Why do I hear so many bad things about it? How many others are happy with this service provider?

I use AOL and have never had a problem with their service . Been using it for the last 5 years, so only good things to say

I have used it for a few years and find it okay - I have never had any major problems. I would rather not have the clunky emails stuff but I can live with it. I may change ISPs when my contract runs out, however.
People are just snobbish about it as it often seen as a "beginners" ISP, and some like to feel they are above that sort of thing. Though how using some other ISP makes you ipso facto more capable on a computer, I am sure I don't know.
It is also a lot easier to remove these days as I had to do it recently.
Mind you, trying to cancel your account is a hoot - it's worth trying to do it when you can as I got 3 free months out of them :P

Wait, it will set in later. They offer a so so connection rate for a high price.
The services that are out there that are so much better. Everyone gets really mad when they discover they could have had so much better for less money all along. That's where the chapping comes in. And wait!!! When you try to cancel it's like trying to get divorced with kids!! They rake you over the coals countless times and put their hardest sellers on the phone with you for as long as they can keep you on the phone. They offer free month, free 3 month. it goes on and on and on. I've used them twice, once because I didn't know better and once for the simplicity of signing up. Both times I practically had to scream at them to get my account cancelled.
After all of that anyone bad mouths AOL= almost on line.
I'm glad you are happy. but you asked.

Hoho you must be in a minority! I hated it - could never log on and when I did it cut me off and then could not get rid of them and the software! But good luck to you!!

you work for AOL right? only a programmer from AOL would use it. then again, they probably wouldnt.

I love mine... after I gave myself adequate time to get used to it... but of course most people haven't got that sort of patience.
