If you are on a website that lets you listen to the song you want, but won't let you download it, simply go into your control panel, under the sound options, and set it to record what is coming out of the speakers.

Open the sound recorder in accessories, and it will let you record (not the best quality - you can get better programs for doing that part).

Then just burn the files onto a CD.

Or like some other people have suggested, buy the CD - then you will have high quality. Even though the actual artist sees very little money for record sales (most bands or performers don't see much money from CD sales, instead getting the majority of their cash from merchandise and live show ticket sales) it's still a nice gesture if you like a band to go out and buy their CD.

Um, you have to use the WWW if you are retrieving files from the internet. Pretty elementary.
The web sites that you can do this without purchasing a membership are Kazaa, Kazaa Lite, Sharazaa, etc.
Just be careful because people do get in trouble for downloading illegally.

In short, you can't. In order to have music file on your computer that you wish to get from the internet, you must download it. Most sites are very conscious of pirating these days, so they require you to pay. I know there are free sites still out there, but you're putting yourself at risk by using them.
