I would keep them until you've verified the transaction with your bank: i.e. check online or receive your statement in the mail. No reason to keep them any longer than that. Same goes w/ your credit card receipts from retail transactions that include tips... restaurants, etc.

Depends on the usefulness of the document... deposit slips you can throw away as soon as you log in and see that the money you deposited is there. ATM slips, you may keep for reference but you have an online list of account activities... if you desire to keep it, it may prove useful for about 30 days. If you open CDs and you get documentation concerning that, you should keep it for the term of the CD (or until you redeem it). If you have checks that are mailed back to you... you can keep them for the tax year... you might be able to deduct a few of them. If you buy a product in normal store... keep your receipt until the warranty is good (usually 30 or 90 days, sometimes a year if depending on what you purchased). This comes in handy if what you bought breaks (especially electronics equipment), or you simply want to return it. That's a general blanket... hope it helps.

Only until you have compared them to either your statement from te bank or online confirmation. Once you have either of those, you can get rid of those slips. If you see an error, however, make sure you save the slips until the situation has been resolved in writing.

As long as it takes to see the actual transaction occur on your statements. I don't keep any of that and I'm an accountant. Now your tax records I would keep 3-5 years back.
