The Business Roundtable is an association of the biggest corporations in the US.

He is holding a joint press conference with the president of the Service Employees union to press for massive change in our health care system.

Is the guy representing every major company you can think of a socialist?

Or is that claim just more con bs to keep profits rolling in to the insurance industry?

Is this really true? If so, it is the best news I've heard in a while. Many people are cripples today, because they were injured as children, and their parents were so afraid of financial ruin they decided the child couldn't be that badly hurt, and let it go.

I dare say he doesn't represent every major company, but I'll indulge you.

Think of it this way, he's doing one or more of the following:

1 - Addressing a union, which he may or may not have to sign a contract with and it's 'politically' expedient.

2 - Figuring universal health care would be funded by individual taxpayers rather than having corporations foot the majority of the bill and hence save corporations millions

I don't have enough information, but here's a couple of other points:

1 - What is his stand on tort reform? Medical Malpractice lawsuits do far more damage to healthcare costs than anyone cares to admit. I'd be interested to see his thoughts on this.

2 - What's wrong with insurance companies being profitable? Like any business, they have the right to earn money. They are not charities.

If there's a no longer-for-income authorities selection, the plan might want to really help save fee down for anybody. If this or another value administration measures are literally not taken, i'm afraid that you're ideal. unmarried payer is really a lot off the table. authorities involvement might want to be restricted to what it already does (medicare, medicaid, veterans hospitals, etc) and a no longer for income federal selection that human beings ought to purchase into. yet another skill selection being exceeded round is non-income community co-ops.they could be set up and managed by the authorities yet then left to be run by the co-ops. yet when no longer some thing is executed to regulate prices, well being care is very no longer fastened.

Universal, mandatory insurance is not a good idea. Maybe someone can do a background check on the speaker to find out if he has a hidden agenda.
I understand the purpose of insurance. It is private enterprise and should not be taken over by the government. The US govt. does not do anything right. the National Flood Insurance Program is a fiasco. We used to have a federally backed theft insurance program. That died an inglorious death.

It's soon to follow in the footsteps of auto insurance,"mandatory at the individuals expense", They'll just automatically take it out of your check, and provide minimal coverage to the poor, no big deal,we'll all follow along, just like with the auto-insurance( you'll have to show proof of coverage, with your income tax form,or be severely penalized) I understand California is leading the way with the plan at the state level

Have you ever heard of passing the buck?

Labor unions have crippled American companies by saddling them with lifelong benefits for their membership. Anyone with any business sense is going to look for a way to eliminate this and pushing it off to the American taxpayer is even more likely with a pinko congress.

Well someone is going to profit greatly from universal health care, maybe this guy, i don't know. Understand that universal health care will create huge profits for a company and will probably enable a monopoly.

The same reason businesses are dropping their pension liabilities onto the US government.
The same reason airlines dropped airport and airplane security onto the US government.
The same reason businesses seek Tax Increment Financing to expand.
The same reason businesses used to run a pipe out the side of a factory to dump poison into the river instead of processing it safely.
