Well was the school part of a religious community. That is very judgmental, I see a law suit coming. However the school was probably trying to set an example, to teach them that they should wait until marriage. But It was still wrong... Her not being married & getting pregnant would have very little effect on her ability to teach, except when she goes on leave!

That sounds like unlawful termination to me. But the fact that she can do something about is a testament to how far we've come. Less than 30 years ago when my mother graduated highschool, her school wouldn't let the girls who were pregnant AND married walk across the stage to get their diplomas.

they couldn;t have said that is the reason she is being fired unless of course they want to be sued up the ***....if it actually did happen recently I would say shame on all of them. This used to happen all the time back in grandmas day and age.

Sounds like a lawsuit if she can prove she got fired b/c she's pregnant and unmarried.

It's not that out there. They're trying to teach the children morals. I understand, especially if it were a private school and I was paying to get my kids away from things that they would be around in public schools.

Legally, a private school CAN do that, because they are not publicly financed. If it goes against the schools beliefs (like a catholic or christian school) they can do it. Stupid and sucky, but legal.
