I would like to transfer my itunes and Picasa and some other progs onto the drive to free up some space on my C: drive. And being a PC dummy I am not sure which is the best way to do this.
Can you help me please. Thanks.

By all means transfer your Music, Pictures and any other files you may have created but don't move any programmes as they will not work properly. Best way is go into your "my documents" select all the files you wish to transfer, select to copy them and then go to your external drive link and select paste. When you have confirmed all the selected files have been transfered and safe, you can delete the files on your C drive

Don't transfer the programs just the data. For itunes go in to the options and change where the itunes music is stored to something on the new drive, choose consolidate library and it will copy it all over. then just delete the old itunes folder.

For picasa it will automatically search for any picture files so just move everything in your pictures folder to the new drive. you may need to change the settings to tell it to index the new drive.

For anything else just copy it over particulrly large video files, it would be too much hassle to move the actual programs over.

I found a free download of Picasa here http://bitly.com/1jBlH6u

Everything you need to manage your photos is Picasa.
