electric, its safer and a cleaner energy source but your buggered in a power cut. You also don't have to worry about lighting the thing.

Gas is more efficient for a cooker, but if you have gas for a cooker, you usually have gas for heating the house, too, which can be expensive. I have an "all electric" home, which suits me fine, as there's only one bill to pay, & I don't cook much.

Personally I prefer an electric oven and a gas hob. Gas is more controllable for cooking on the hob - you can manage lower cooking temperatures much more easily with gas. An electric oven can have the benefit of a fan.

Gas is generally cheaper and on a hob is easier to control, but I prefer the combo of a gas hob with an electric fan oven. For me, you kinda get the best of both worlds there.

Gas. Much more controllable and more different types of pans can be used on gas hobs. Can't wait to updae my kitchen to get a built in hob with a wok burner. If you have to go electric get a halogen one as they react almost as quickly as gas when you turn them down/up.

Also I find as a guy that gas satisfies the cave man in me - we guys all love a good fire.....I am quite primitive sometimes.

I personally think a gas oven is better and the heat is instant - with electric you have to wait til it heats to the right temperature.

I feel you have more control with gas if you want to reduce the heat it is instant with gas.
