Ice on a road or sidewalk that is dark in color, and thus hard to see. Acually the ice itself isnt dark, just has so little "frost" to it that it appears dark to the viewer. Makes it dangerous on roads since you are often not expecting it.

It's what everyone ( just about ) said except the term comes from when most of the roads were asphalt instead of concrete. U can not see it on asphalt as good as U can on concrete. Thus the term Black Ice. Very dangerous driving conditions. Hope this gives U a clear ensure.

thats when theres ice on the road but its clear so you cant see it, making it more dangerouse than regular ice because you could slide out on it without knowing whats coming. Its called black ice becase you see through it and the road is black, so it just looks like ordinary road.

Black ice is formed when the temperature is very cold and there's a lot of moisture in the air. It settles on the road and freezes because of the cold air. It is very slippery and dangerous because you can't see it. Usually it happens in the high elevation areas.

You can't see it. You hear about it mostly at intersections (stop lights/stop signs). The car exhaust melts the snow/ice when it is idling at the intersection and it re-freezes once the car leaves. This happens often enough and you have a good sized patch of ice that you can't see while driving.

It is ice that isn't visible while driving on the road. You don't see it til you are on it. It could also just look like some water on the road.
