I agree. I am in the middle of purchasing all my appliances and GE and Whirlpool are not the same. Whirlpool share manufacturing plants with KitchenAid, Amana, Matag, Jenn-Air and even Kenmore. Anyhow, after speaking to many people and accessing the online consumer reports reviews, I found that Whirlpool has a better track record with repairs (as in they don't need them as often as GE) and they usually have better features. They also usually have a better rating for energy consumption (as per consumer reports) and in my opinion, are cosmetically nicer. Hope it help. If you need help with dishwasher purchase let me know

and Whirlpool parts are cheaper than GE.

whirlpool appliances are always mechanic friendly. and GE & WP are not the same.
