I would personally wait until at least 6 months. I would just feed your baby breastmilk or formula and baby cereal (and juice)!

I have just had my 3rd baby and I started all my boys on baby rice cereal at 4 months. When they were around 5 months I offered baby food. Two of my kids ate the baby food at 5 months but my last baby didnt want any food until he was 6 months. It can't hurt to offer some food at 4 months. If they are ready they will eat. If their not ready then give it a little longer then try again.

My daughter started out on baby food at about that age. I don't think allergic reactions have anything to do with age. I do know that food allergies tend to run in the family. So if anyone is allergic to something, I would try to avoid that food for a little bit longer. Also, ignore the people that are going to say that it will mess up baby's digestive system, etc. Way back when, they didn't have doctors and WIC, etc. telling them what to feed their kids and when, and majority of the past generations and this generation have turned out fine. You can email me if you have any more questions. Good Luck!

i started my son on cereal at 2 months and stage 1 foods at 4 months. start with single foods like bananas or sweet potates, stick with just the one for a few days to see if baby is allergic then try another single food. by the time baby is 6 or 7 months they will be able to handle 2 foods like apple banana. My son has been off baby food altogether by the time he was about 9 months. it would just make him mad that he didn't get to chew it. He is 16 months old now and eats like a champ. He is the perfact weight for his height and has never once had a problem. Good Luck!!

My baby is 4 months old and he's accepting solid foods fine. It is not necessary to start your baby on solids as soon as they hit 4 months old. Only if she shows signs that that she is not getting adaquate fullness after feedings should you start her on solids.

One sign is seeming hungry after 8 - 10 feedings per day. They also say that your baby should have already doubled her birth weight and should be able to hold her head up. If there is no need, keep you baby on formula and/or breastmilk for another month or two. They usually suggest starting babies on rice cereal first (least likely for an allergic reaction), although some pediatricians suggest pureed fruit instead. If your baby seems constipated after eating the rice cereal, you can switch her to a single-grain cereal like barley or oatmeal. My baby is on oatmeal and rice cereal for now.

Good luck!

I would not really be concerned about an allergic reaction unless you have found that she is sensitive to formula! If shes mature enough to eat it then I do not think it would be a problem.. My daughter was 4-5 months but she was mature! my boys on the other hand were not ready! If she is satisfied with her formula amount then I would probably wait a little longer! All ya can do is try it... If she takes it then cool if not then ya can hold off. Good Luck!!

Do one at a time. Like do all the fruits and than veggies, but one a week. So for one week just give your baby apple once a day for a week, and than the next week give pears etc, So if there is a reaction you will know exactly what it is. When my son was that age my Pediatrician told me that is the best way to introduce kids to food.

what you should do is feed the same food for 3 days in a row with nothing else to see if it causes a reaction. If it does go to the hospital, if after three days there is no reaction switch to the next food, only fruits and veggies at 4 months.

Wait until 6 months before introducing veggies, fruits, meats etc. You should start her on rice cereal first. The longer you wait the better it is for her. If there is a history of food allergies in your family... hold off on giving her those foods until she is much older (8-12 months)

Start baby off on cereal first. babies aren't suppose to start eating so young, they can develop diabetes. Pediatricians tell you these things for a reason. 4-6 months is a good time to start off with cereal, wait on the baby foods!

I have a 3 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. They both began eating baby food the day they reached 3 months. I recommend you start out with veggies and once your baby eats those, go on to fruits. At first it'll be a bit dificult but eventually you both will get use to meal time. Whenever you give your baby a new food, give it to him/her for three days and that way she'll have time to adjust to the flavor and you can tell which she/he might be allegic to.
