is this typical ? any ideas ?

as metal expands due to heat the will make clicking sounds.

same is true for many exhaust shields on cars....as they cool they click.

as long as its a "tick" sound and not too loud, should be common, specially if the metal casing is cold or been stored in the cold.

Mine does it too and it drives my family nuts! I think it's dripping inside as it circulates. I don't worry about it. Oh- mine just clicked and that particular click is the sound of it shutting off. Maybe your heater is turning off and on too much? That might be bad.... Call the manufacturer to be safe!
