Hey Shorty Baby,

Do you use a wheel? It would be impossible for you to use up all your ideas! Your brain will only be used 3% when you are 90 years old. Reach down, deep inside, and take that clay. Kneed a batch of it, and roll it out, cut it into the shapes in your mind and round it off, play with it. Make unique figures, scenes, beads, pots, containers, bells, windchimes, etc. Dig in, and do it.

Do you youse Polymer? that is hot now. Remember to look around you and 'draw' from your life!

I find going for a walk helps me to come up with ideas. The other time is when I'm going to sleep. If it's the same for you then keep a pencil and paper by the bed so you can write it down.

If you're stuck for ideas, stop trying. Leave it a few days and then come back to the problem. In the meantime, your subconscious will be working on it.

I suggest you pick a theme - something you like e.g. water/ flowers/ shoes/ food/ cars/ buildings. Get really into the subject by researching books and internet. Get out there and draw/sketch around the subject. Get a sketch book and fill with cuttings/ photos/ ideas/ sketches - then try to develop into a sculptural clay idea. Don't forget to think about colour/ size/ texture/ shape/ pattern/ scale - happy sculpting.

Have a look through books on ancient art/sculpture eg, African, Egyptian, Celtic - at the local library. You might get some inspiration - also visit art galleries - you ae bound to find something that makes you think.

Are you working in ceramic clay or modeling clay?

It sounds a bit trite, but choose either a human subject or a natural one, such as an animal. It's a good start, anyway.

Work as BIG as the media will allow.
Once again, HUGE.
It forces you to either notice the details or use stylistic abstraction.
Don't constrain yourself to fussy miniatures.

Have fun with it! Don't get tensed up.

Sometimes the 'creative juices' only flow when you take the medium in your hands.
RELAX, enjoy the feel of the clay, and inspiration should come.
Sometimes once you practise techniques that your teacher shows you, ideas come.

Good luck-sw

ask your friends and family what they would like as a gift from you? hand made and very personal. its amazing what can stimulate your brain when you do a simple questionnaire! start with a plain block and see where your imagination takes you! good luck!
