I am working as a freelance photographer and for 3 years my situation gets worse and worse. I love photography, but I can for some reason not really work on anything anymore. It feels wrong. I am not happy with my work anymore.

I started my freelancing career as a drawer and painter, also had a band. All those things broke apart. When I try to draw or paint or write a song today, it just doesn t feel right anymore.

Everthing I once loved, where I put my passion in, just feels worthless and mediocre to me today. I am missing my passion and obsession for all the things that I once loved to do.

One reason might be, that I think it is "all about money" and there's always someone who tells me how to do things. The result is always a compromise.

On the other side I have many projects in my head that I want to realize, but for some reason I can not. Nothing helps. No to-do list, no get-things-done-lists, no project planning... it always gets stuck in the planning...

what can i do?

It might help to know that when you start doing things for an external objective (like money) you start to lose the passion for the work as you start to figure out how best to obtain this reward. Also, if someone is giving you requirements or instructions all the time for drawing, then you are doing a more technical job of an illustrator (concentrate on skillfully doing what someone wants you to do) rather than being an artist (creative for personal satisfaction). Sometimes I document my good ideas for a project (and definitely my first idea that made me start the project in the first place) so that when I find myself stuck, I go back to these ideas and the motivation and excitement I get for the whole project comes back to me. Its that feeling in your soul that you are looking for. I think you should try to remember what that felt like from your successess.

You have blah. burnout. depression. You need to do something for someone else. Sounds like you've tried things for yourself ... photography, paint, song writing, etc. Those are are all expressing your own feelings. But the thing is, you seem not satisfied with your OWN satisfaction, you need external stimuli ... you want someone else to be satisfied also, right?

Also are you suppressing your real feelings, and just producing work that you think others would like? Just doing it for the money? Very few get earn a sufficient living through expressing their artistic abilities. Those who do have found a target market who wait in line to buy their work.

Do what you have to do to keep food on the table. But to excell, don't listen to others, do what you think is right. Good luck to you and may God bless you richly.

The whole purpose of life is very simple my friend. Most people over look it and keep guessing their whole lives. The purpose of life is to create more life and keep the circle going. There is balance with everything and life is always renewed. Do you have kids, or a family? That is where the balance is. Perhaps if you relate your work to new life, the outdoors, anything positive that reflects the balance beginning a new. Maybe you will get the joy of your life back. I hope this awns er helped you.

It's possible you are clinically depressed and need to talk to a professional. It's possible you are simply bored and need to shake things up. Travel overseas, take a vacation, join a theater group, take a night class, etc...

It doesn't sound like you necessarily are having an existential crisis, you are simply unhappy and currently unlucky. You can turn that around.

Teach your craft to others and find joy in your love again. Serving others seems to be the best way to deal with losing interest in a loved area. I love to write. I discovered that teaching writing is even a bigger love and it makes me a better writer as well. Good luck.

The problem is, you are missing the point.

Many people make the mistake of pursuing happiness as a direct goal.

When they do that, happiness *always* eludes them.

The secret to happiness is to forget self|

Happiness is found by forgetting self and dedicating yourself to something other and higher than yourself.

When you do that, happiness finds you.

The ultimate purpose of life is *love.*

Love in that definition, is not a feeling we get, it is a decision and a willingness to make others happy - to see to their joy and legitimate pleasures that make their lives brighter.

When you seek to affirm others in this way for their sakes (and not to get something out of it in return) the returns of happiness to you are unbounded|||

God only demands that we love others purely, and then the rewards He lavishes on us are unbounded|||

If you are married see to your spouse's happiness, and just see how happy that will make you||||

you should take a break.

freelancing isn´t always the best way of a job, and it´s especially related with your type of personality.

so what if you like it yesterday but not anymore?

how old are you?

try to get a job in which you interact more with other people.
