for geography (settlement):
good location gives good resources (water from rivers, trees etc), defense, communication and such, so that the settlement can develop well...so if a settlement is on a good location, it can grow...so more people live there, better economy, and so on...

I don't really know what you mean. Care to elaborate? Well if you mean what I think you mean, for doing homework, then it helped me to go to my room or sit on my porch, or somewhere I could breath and hear myself think without remembering all the things I had to do that day. Anything other then that, and I have no idea.

You can change and remodel a building very easily, you can not change a neighborhood that quickly.
