Right click on your desktop and choose properties. Once there click on the Desktop tab, down on the page you will see CUSTOMIZE DESKTOP. Once in there you should see a checkbox for internet explorer, check that and click apply at the bottom.

I'm assuming that it got deleted. Normally if it got cleared from the desktop it stores it in start programs and somewhere is Internet explorer drag it onto your main screen and then click copy here that should help if i understood correctly.

Tammy i think all the answers above have got the wrong end of the stick.
Personally i have no icon in the taskbar unless i go wireless, then it appears.
However if i lose my internet connection the icon shows and lets me know i have no connection. I dont think you have a problem.

when you are done doing everything else that you've been told... this is the ultimate effort...:

1.- search for "iexplore.exe" it will be found somewhere in your program files.
2.- right click on it.
3.- select "send to"
4.- select "Desktop (create shortcut)"

it will be on your desktop
this method works with everything... files, folders, programs... it creates a shortcut on your desktop.

try this as your last resort.
