I bought a boxer puppy paid full price. The lady told me he was reg. AKC. I sent the papers in to American Kennel Club and they denied stating his parentage could not be verified, she said that the parents I seen were his parents. Now she has disconnected her phone . What can I do ?

If you have a contract from her, you can sue her for breech of contract.

If you don't have a contract, there is not much you can do...

I agree with the first person. If there is no contract, there is really nothing you can do.

I guess you can consider it a lesson learned and the next time do a little bit more homework.

You may be better off. I sent away for the papers for my dog and all I got (besides the actual certificate) was my name on a mailing list and now I receive lots of advertising from the Bradford Mint. The AKC is sort of a scam in itself unless you are going to show your dog or paticipate in its agility events.

The thing that may have happened with the Boxer is that she got her dog with Limited Registration meaning that her dog was registered, but none of its offspring would be eligible for AKC papers. My dog is of limited registration. She is spayed for that reason among others. So, if she bred her boxer, those puppies could not have papers. Responsible breeders do this to combat backyard breeding. She probably didn't care or was uninformed. You dog is probably still purebred and will probably be a wonderful pet for years to come. That is all that really matters, isn't it?

Go to her house and speak with her about this. Get her to take a second look at the papers to make sure everything is exactly right. She may have messed up some of the numbers or something. Do you have any written contract? You may not be able to do anything. Also, call the police and ask them if there is anything else that you could do. Good Luck!! Hope everything turns out well.

Call AKC and give them her address and information. As for the papers the only time the papers really do you any good is if you are going to show the dog or breed it. Since she appears to be a back yard breeder anyway then your puppy is more then likly only pet quality anyway. Just love your puppy and raise it right

You should write a letter to the local paper, preferably in her area, and get her that way. It's obvious she won't answer your calls because she already has what she wants,...your money.
By making the scam known to others, people will be looking for it, and her "business" will hopefully suffer in the consequence. You probably won't be able to get your money back, but you might be able to stop others from making the same mistake.
Atleast you still have your dog, and I'm sure you don't love it less because it's not a pure breed. :)

report her to the AKC, the better business bureau, and your local authorities. If you want to take it far, you have every right to sue her for false information. Obviously, by disconnecting her phone, she knows she was in the wrong. If confronted with legal papers, she may be willing to refund your money to avoid further complications.
