What was this I heard about 'under 5 grams is okay' or some such? Anyone happen to have any information on this?

Trans fats, especially found in partially hydrogenated oils, are not healthy but they are not toxic either. Trans fat occurs naturally in meat and milk in small amounts. The problem is other processed foods where partially hydrogenated oils are used in their preparation. They can contain more than what we need. However, that being said, there have been no studies to set a daily limit on how much you should consume.

Avoid all trnsfats when possible. These are created synthetically by adding water to fats/oils and don't leave your body as easily as naturally occuring fats. Since they are not easily eliminated by the body they can lead to a variety of health problems including heart disease.
