It has been a trend that has been increasing over the past decade or so. Our teen girls are just unruly, untamed, no femininity, and seem to just not give a damn when it comes to others, their property or their lives and have no fear of confrontation or what is happening most now a days, death. Is it something they are lacking at home, is it outside sources, whatever it is, it has to be identified and destroyed before it takes down the part of many societies (single mother homes) that have and will continue to women at the helm. Where is the future, if the males are in jail and the females are also? We need to get a handle on this. While it has been advised we are seeing less and less so called "crack" babies, the last of them should be by now high school age, but what is the problem with the others. Don't get me wrong there are some, few, who don't fall in this graph, but then there is a very wide margin for error.

From my experience it's typically because by being outwardly agressive they draw attention away from themselves. Kids at this age, especially girls are very self conscious. It's also not just a girl thing. It's more common in teenagers from homes with multiple siblings. They've been doing it for years amongst themselves and are good at it. And, it most certainly has a lot to do with hormones raging and immaturity. On-line they are even worse. It's easy to attack someone that you don't see as a person or a person with feelings.

Good question. I was always called "sweet" in high school because I didn't like being mean to anyone. In fact, I was always extra kind to the ones that were being most mistreated by the others. My daughter is not mean towards others, either. I think it has a lot to do with upbringing.

My parents taught me the Golden Rule - "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

I added, "and not as they are probably going to do unto you." Most people were not hurtful towards me, although some were. You gotta be extra nice to those, though, so they can realize how mean they are.

Well I go to a large high school (4,000 + kids) so I don't see that stuff to much. But there are people who start fights over the net and My Space. I personally think it's because their spoiled and need to be taught humility and discipline.

I don't know about High School girls. But I do know from my youth that middle school boys can be very cruel.

Society has deteriorated and the young people are raised in lower types of environments than in previous generations, when HAPPY HOMES existed. Homes with a male father who wasn't a drunkard and a female mother who wasn't a tramp.

The order of the day is some sort of weird situation, usually as the result of rampant divorce.

I'm not in high school anymore, though. But way back, I thought of guys who are not interested in alcohol or drugs as matured, has professional outlook, and one who cannot easily be fooled, a good vibe, and cool to be with.

Kind of like a trend. I was the one being picked on until I was in high school it went the other way, now I regret so much hate from me to others~

You stick that many girls in a building with raging hormones and men, and you give them, usually, boring classwork on top of it. I am amazed that there aren't more shootings, because it seems pretty hopeless.

i dunno. when i was in h.s. i was always so mad at everything. the way i was treated by society, boys, other girls, mad at the media for the images they portray as acceptable. angry at the world really, and powerless, so i was pretty cruel to some people, but it was mostly those who were in the 'more powerful' cliques than me. i was notorious for shoving football players into their lockers & shouting at them, intimidating & grossing out the 'popular cheerleader' types, making snide comments to the worst teachers. anyone who tried to be my friend pretty much had to go thru a 'hazing'-- i'd be so mean to them i can't even believe it now! mostly i can't believe they put up with it, but i only did it to the point where they stood up for themselves, then i'd be completely loyal & nice to them. (only if i liked them)
i can't answer for anyone else, but i was one P!$$ED OFF teen girl
