I'm 15 and I think you should get a light green or light blue with layers, i had one like that for my homecoming, and I loved it, and it came to right above the knees.

Choose a neutral color that goes with the tops you plan to wear. Black may too heavy for spring and summer. Try navy or medium blue, medium dark grey, wine, teal, camel/khaki/beige, or medium light brown.

But take stock of your choices for tops first, because you must consider if you want people to actually notice the skirt if you are wearing it weekly or monthly. Easiest to match and least likely to be noticed as a repeat is navy blue. It will go with just about any warm or cool color top, and is not too dark for summer.

The skirt needs to not ride up, so choose something with a bit of flare from the hip down. A very slight tulip shape is pretty classic and will mix well with a variety of styled tops. But A-line may look out of style too soon and particularly may not mix well with certain shape tops or jackets, sweaters etc.

Making sure it is at least knee length (middle to bottom of the knee) will also make sure you aren't revealing too much when you sit or perhaps kneel.

Choose something in a medium weight flat knit or woven if you live in a climate that gets a "real" winter. There's nothing worse than shivering in a flimsy short skirt in a blizzard. But you don't want corduroy in the summer either. :) Textures are too "heavy" and may be noticed when repeatedly worn.

By the way, when you get older this is an excellent way to build a "interviewing/working" wardrobe from scratch. You can buy or sew well-fitted, fine quality fabric garments and add more variety as you get paid.

I read about a young woman who got a job in New York and had one very expensive, but classic styled black skirt that she had to wear every day for a year. She took very good care of it and used variety in her tops, jackets, jewelry, and accessories to camouflage her financial "embarrasment". People would occasionally ask if it was "new".

Remember that "style" endures; being in "fashion" is easier when you are not a slave to it.

"Bell" Skirts & "A" Line Skirts are so in - knee length
“Pencil” Skirts are great if you have that long lean body type.

* White is traditional for stuff like ”Baptism” and “Confirmation”

* Champagne --- with an eloquent abstract trim that's 4-6 Inches wide at bottom of skirt (balances outfit) or top of skirt (to show off great waist line).

* You could also do something daring like have her create the “Skirt of many colors” like Jacob - Giggle - better to have the colorful stripes going horizontal to help u look taller.

Either an A line skirt right around the knee, or a pencil skirt about the same length. The color doesn't matter, whatever you want - maybe a floral spring pattern or maybe a bright solid color.
