how do i do these problems and show the work:
multiply the following numbers by moving the decimal:

Multiplying by 10 is the same as moving the decimal place some number of places to the right:

1. 0.08 x 10 = 0.8
2 5.65 x 100 = 565

you move the decimals to the right by as many zeros there are in the multiplying number.

1. 0.08 x 10 = 0.8 (move the decimal to the right one place)
2. 5.65 x 100 = 565 (move the decimal to the right two places)

10^1 - move decimal point 1 place to the right
10^2-move decimal point 2 places to the right


10^-1 = move decimal point to the left one place
10^-2 = move decimal point to the left two places.

remember, the general rule for multiplying decimals

multiply all number ignoring the decimal point, multiply as if they are regular numbers.
In the answer - add up the total number of decimal places in all numbers multiplied and starting from the furthest righ position, move the decimal point this many places in the answer.

.085 X 10 =0850 (place decimal point three units from the right)
.85

2) Move the decimal over two spaces since there's two 0's in 100. The answer is 565
