Learn what we all know:

4th and 11 at the opponents 30 in the 1st qtr is not a passing down

Keeping players in line for discipline is a coach's job (it needs to be reinforced in game situation practices, it needs to be drilled in order ot become second nature)

Keeping players aware of the situation is a coach's job (ie 4th down interception, trying to pick up and run with a fumbled punt)

Running an effective 2 minute drill is a coach's job

Not challenging calls which are obvious and losing timeouts is a coach's job

He blew 5 things ,any one of which probably would have sent the Chargers on to the Championship or at least into overtime, that the average fan knows

In all seriousness, he needs some sort of professional therapy. I'm not saying he's crazy, or whatever, but he needs to learn how to relax out there. He's an amazing, amazing coach, the fact that he's been coaching for so long and has won so many games proves that. The Chargers were 14-2 in the Regular Season, that means that Marty knew what he was doing. He needs to sit down with a Shrink and try to figure out why he tenses up in the Playoffs.

Because, it's like when a choir director tenses up when he's conducting, every single singer will tense up as well, no matter how much they try not to. It's the same in sports, if the coach is tense, then all the coaches below him as well as the players will tense up as well.

The guy just needs to talk out why it keeps happening in the off season and then see what he can get done next year.

An armchair to watch football from. Sorry but "Martyball" = NO SUPER BOWL!!!!! Never has, never will! I was really hoping San Diego would go. I have the misfortune of being a Lions fan, and spent years watching another GREAT running back (Barry Sanders incase anyone doesnt know) year in and year out. We made the playoffs all through the 90's, and actually lost the NFC Championship.

MArty has always managed to blow it when it counts. Have you ever heard him in the locker room? I have seen some NFL Films shows, and he couldnt motivate anyone to do anything. He wasted a timeout with that stupid fumble challenge, and how the hell does L.T. only get 9 carries in the second half? MArty needs to retire, and find a rock to hide under, because no one in San Diego, K.C., or Clevland wants to see him again! Oh god, if he loses the job the Lions will probably hire the bumb!!! UGGGGHHH!

I don't see how you can blame Marty for what happened on Sunday. The challenge was a dumb move and is on him, but he's not the one who fumbled the interception and got whistled for the stupid penalties. The Patriots are a playoff hardened opponent, and they were able to make the most out of the little the Chargers left for them. Basically, though, the DB doesn't fumble the INT--heck, he could've just broken up the play period, didn't need to catch it--and the Chargers are in round two. Can't blame the coach for that.

It ain't gonna happen. Period! He's never going to win a Super Bowl. It's sad because he's a great regular season coach and he seems like a hell of nice guy, but the game against the Pats is typical of his teams. Very good and disciplined during the regular season, but freaks out and gets nervous in the playoffs.

I think his record is something like 4-18 in the playoffs. The guy chokes under pressure or at leasts out thinks himself. There is even a phrase for this, "Marty ball." At this point in time, I don't think he can restructure himself to get organized. What needs to happen is to get him out during the playoffs (the actual games, not the practices) and hand it over to the offensive and defensive coaches during the playoff games.

Experience. What Schottenheimer has, the team needs to learn. They got beat not by athleticism but rather by experience. The Bolts are a young team give'em a chance. Did you see more jumping up and down and hollering from SD or NE? The Pats were more business oriented than SD. NE new their backs were to the wall.

Stupid penalties, a lack of discipline, overconfidence, and poor coaching decisions will sink even the best team. The Patriots are not an easy team to beat, and San Diego essentially gave them the game.

The only way he is going to win a Superbowl is to learn how to play Madden.
