The Democrats have only been in power for 1 1/2 weeks, and already Pelosi has put 6 tax increases on the agenda. I've only heard this briefly on one channel--why is that? Is that because the liberal media is ashamed?

I hope all the Democrats are happy--there hasn't been a tax increase since Bush came into power, but now the the Democrats have our attention, there goes all of America's hard-earned money for pointless bullshit programs that don't help anybody.

Is this what we wanted? I didn't vote for her--I would have rather died. And this is one of the reasons why. You can't say that the war is costing Americans millions of dollars because our taxes haven't increased!

I guess Pelosi was too busy watching football instead of listening to the American public.

Amen! When will Libs understand that an increase in taxes does not increase (in the long run) tax revenues to the government? Tax increases simply take more money out of the economy by causing consumers to spend less. After 9/11, everybody was afraid that the economy was tanking and that we were heading into a depression. Bush (although I disagree with him on a lot of things) got it perfectly right with the tax cuts, thus giving Americans more of their paycheck to put into the economy instead of taking it away upfront. Then businesses, given the higher revenue that they received because of the lower taxes, will pay a higher amount of taxes, thereby actually increasing the tax revenue to the government. This is why every single time these ignorant liberals pass tax increases, they continue to try to pass more and more of them every year because the revenues don't increase the way they expected.

Let me guess - it was during an Annie-Banannie Coulter or a Rush Limpbaugh program that you "heard" this?

What "tax increases" are being proposed? Which people or what commodities will the taxes affect? What makes you think that Speaker Pelosi needs your vote? Do you live in her congressional district, or are you just parroting what you think you heard from some political right-wing whackjob pundit? You do know that the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives is not something the entire country votes on, I'm sure?

You do realize that the ONLY person who can raise your taxes for THE NEXT TWO YEARS - is GEORGE WALKER BUSH - don't you? The Democratic Majority does not have enough votes alone to override a veto, so any tax increase would have to be SIGNED BY BUSH.

You watch Faux...oops...Fox news don't you? Pointless bullshit programs that don't help anybody? Probably better than the big tax breaks the wealthy enjoyed under the right wing conservative Republican controlled government. I got another pointless program running right now...it's called the Iraq war...I'm sure you've heard about it. Courtesy of our friends, the right wing conservative Republican party. How about the programs that allow the government to spy on Americans? Also brought to us by the right wing conservative Republican party. That piece of paper George W. Bush and his cronies in the right wing conservative Republican party are...oops...were using to wipe their a**es with is the Constitution of MY country. Right wing conservatives Republicans are NOT the only people that call themselves Americans. I am Liberal and also an American...and truly happy the Dems are in control. Perhaps some sanity can be brought back to the government of MY country!

Yes to the oil companies and the filthy rich that wont pay their taxes. It effects only the rich 2% that have avoided paying taxes for the last 6 1/2 years. Like George Bush and Dick Cheney.

Maybe it's to help pay for the war. Bush was the first president to lower taxes during wartime. Traditionally you are supposed to raise taxes, or find another way to pay for a war. I'm not saying that's what they are going to do with the money, but you have to realize we SHOULD be paying higher taxes right now to help pay for the war effort. One day, the bill for the war will come and we will have to pay it, somehow.

If you weren't such a boytoy of the rich, you'd realize that your bosses take most of the money you actually produce. Out of that, they pay you as little as possible, depending on what a slavish wimp you are. So, if you had any pride, you'd complain about the way your bosses waste the wealth you created for them on trinkets and bimbos.

Yes and Oh god I am so happy! It's about time!

Why are you so angry? How in the hell do you think a government runs? Taxes. How are we going to continue to bomb the crap out of the middle east? You guessed it - taxes!

I would think both democrats and republicans would be jumping for joy.

Here's a pointless bullshit program that doesn't help anybody (except Halliburton):

THE IRAQ WAR.

As long as we have gargantuan deficits, it is prudent to raise taxes to pay for the amount of governmment that we have collectively decided upon. It's irreponsible to pass the bills on to succeeding generations.

People voted for Democrats, so now they WILL get tax increases!

Unless Bush pulls out the veto pen.

Don't blame me! I voted Republican!
