My monitor has a few USB ports on it that I would like to use. But when I plug things into it (camera, etc), the "New Hardware Found" message doesn't pop up. I've tried several different accessories. Do I need to change setting anywhere? Anyone know? Thank you!

There has to be a usb jumper cable that runs from the monitor to the computer. It sounds like your referring to the new flat panel lcds that hook to the dell optiplex. There is a square usb connection like a printer uses on the bottom of the monitor, it has to run into ANY usb input on the computer.

I don't know if your monitor has any settings for the USB ports in it's menu, but you might want to check that out.

Also, becuase it has USB ports your monitor may have come with special software/drivers that you need to install. Also there could be extra cables from the monitor to the computer that may need to be plugged in.

Hopefully one of these things work.

there should be cable running from the monitor to the usb ports so u can use the ports on the side of the monitor, thats why your not getting new hardware detected.

You need to plug in the USB cable from the Monitor to the PC first

there should be another cable connecting hte monitor to your computers usb port.

the monitor itself does not reconize the hardware, there is just a circut connecting the usb ports ont he monitor to the usb ports on the computer,

you proally need a usb calbe to connect the monitor to the pc

If windows isn't automatically trying to install the plugged in hardware, click Start; Control Panel; Add Or Remove Hardware, and Windows should now look for uninstalled plugged in devices.

my computer > control panel > add new hardware --> then have it do a search for new connections.

Make sure the pc is off when you plug this stuff in, then turn on the pc & monitor.
