My fiance and I are thinking about renting a condo at Duck, NC, for our honeymoon. Can anybody tell me how the beaches are there?

Go up to Carrolla, less people and bigger houses. Get a house not a condo about the same price, maybe a little more, but you get your own house. Thats how most people do it.

Beaches are nice, but we have been dozens of times and never swam there as the undertow makes it dangerous. Go further south and away from the outer banks if you want to swim in the ocean. Swimming as far south as Myrtle Beach is great but often crowded. Duck would be for a laid back honeymoon as there is not much to do one the outer banks but lay back.

Duck through Nag's Head - one l o n g stretch of wonderful beach...
(I have a son who is with ocean rescue at Nag's Head). Anywhere in that stretch - 30 miles or more!! Straight as an arrow. A fair amount of undertow, btw... need to be a strong swimmer or be near a lifeguard stand. Anywhere along the Outer Banks, it is nearly impossible to get more than a couple of hundred yards from salt water. A number of excellent restaurants as well (such as the Black Pelican and Tortugas).
GO!!!

Great -- but crowded in the summer months. Go further south, if you want more solitude... Avon, NC, for example.
