To a point, your parents have a right to tell you what to do with your life.
I'm assuming you are living under their roof and being supported by them, so the least you could do is respect their wishes until you are old enough to get out there on your own and make your own decisions.
Also, why would you want to act black if you're white? Be proud of who you are. They are probably concerned that you will follow the example of others instead of doing what's right.

I am puzzled why you - or anyone else - would wish to "Act Black" - your words, not mine.

Is being yourself really so bad that you need to "act" like a different culture?

As for the rest of it, Some folks (on both sides) are not in favour of mixed race relationships, call it prejudice, prferenece or whatever you wish, your folks are trying to guide you as best as they can.

If you feel the need to "Act Black" and like to "bop in" saying "Yo mamma" to great Aunt Maud, I can kind of see their point....

At the end of the day, if you are old enough to leave home - and can pay your own way in life - or a parter - then live your own life and do your own thing. If not, then I guess follow the house rules until you can fly the nest.

Well first of all stop being so defensive, don't let your pride, vanity or arrogance colour what their opinions. Stop, don't fight with them and ACTUALLY LISTEN to what they have to say.

They are older, wiser and should know better. Now, all that said after you have listened to what they have to say, consider it, mull it over. If you still don't agree with their opinions, tell them. But don't lie, don't go behind their backs, don't date a black guy outta rebellion and all that other stupid teenager crap. If you want them to treat you better you have to be open and honest and upfront with them. Plus all that lying and going behind their backs is cliché and played out. You'll only hurt yourself.

Its racism, don't put up with it. They should be educated in the current world of today. Do they associate "gangta's" with all black people? Is all hip hop and rap corrupt to them? (cuz its not) They should be able to decipher these things by now. Its sheer ignorance. Maybe somebody in your community can help with education of racism... or you can...?
