I have 9 days until my due date. I have a Dr. appointment today, and I think I want to ask to be induced. At my appointment last week I was 3cm dilated and she stripped my membranes. I think I lost my plug over the weekend, but not many contractions. The only real reason I have to ask to be induced is that my first child came pretty quickly for a first time labor (9 hours), and I have heard that the second time around is about 1/2 that time. Plus, if I am starting out already this dilated, i'm afraid that I won't have enough time to get an epidural. Mainly I am just emotionally drained as all women are in their 9th month!! Thanks for you comments.

Also, do you think it would be likely that they would induce me by breaking my water? That is what I would prefer over a medication induction. Thanks!

ask for an internal, chances are you've dialated some more and the internal will just get you on your way naturally. In all honesty though, you are best to start on your own as induction causes artificial labour and the contractions can be very painful and come so quick that you lose control of your own body.

I would let nature take it's course if I were you. And as for epidurals as long as you stay calm and relaxed there is no real need for one. I gave birth to twins using only gas and air.

I think you are on your way and won't need to be induced. As soon as you get to the hospital ask for an epidural. With my second, I waited a long time and they still gave me one 2 hours before delivery. They did not give me as much and I could still feel my legs, but it did take the edge off. Good luck!

Yes ask him, you and your baby should be ready for labor now. There shouldnt be any reason he wont do it unless he has plans after work. Some doctors are like that, they will schedule and induction if they have plans coming up. So it isnt going to hurt anything by asking him to induce you. Good luck!

the infant isn't "thoroughly waiting" till he starts your exertions, he's only finished time period which isn't an same concern. maximum respected medical doctors gained't set off earlier 40 weeks/your due date till that is medically needed. Experiencing nagging pains isn't a medical reason. i did not ask because i concern being led to because that is more effective painful than time-honored exertions and consider a higher threat of desiring a c-section. you also do not get the posh of having the flexibility to eat till after the infant is born and such issues as that. i'm a week late (became due december 20) and getting led to in 2 days because I even haven't any determination. My son and body are not waiting for exertions it truly is somewhat unlucky because i might want to provide in basic terms about something to easily bypass into exertions clearly and function a classic and secure shipping. most of girls imagine induction is a walk interior the park and for his or her convenience although that isn't any longer something that should be taken gently.

No, your baby needs the extra time (no matter how little) in your womb to grow, they will come when they're ready, not when you are. Regardless, doctors normally won't induce until your nearly two weeks over.

you want to be induced so that you can insure you can have an epidural? if your labor is 4-5 hours long you won't need one, silly goose!

If you are as close as you think you are, I dont think that there is much point to being induced. Inductions are alot harder on your body and they see, to cause the labor to be that much longer because you are forcing it.

Absolutely ask. The worst thing that could happen is your Doctor say no.
