Yes!!! Absolutely!

The political zombies would be speechless as they wouldn't have a political mouth piece to tell them what to say.

Half of the Cable channels would go off the air as they wouldn't know which party specific guests to have on their "fair and balanced" programs.

Lobbyist would become unemployed and would have to get real jobs.

Hard question to answer.

George Washington, in his farewell address, warned of the dangers of a political party system, but that was really his opinion.

In reality, all democracies are designed to support a party system. Certain things in our constitution and in our law make it prime for a two party system. Same goes for United Kingdom. It works for us, that is why we have it.

Other countries, like Russia have more than two parties and that is because there government is drawn up to support that many. This is because in Russia and other countries you don't vote for a person but vote for a party and the percentage of votes a party gets equates to the percentage of representation in the government.

It is nearly impossible to escape from parties for two reasons: because of how the law is written and because people tend to gravitate towards an idea and group together based on that idea to improve there odds of being heard.

Would it be better? Maybe. Is it possible? Definitely not.

The Founding Fathers tended to think so, but it happened. But how would we get an elected victor with a genuine mandate, if he ran among many candidates and could only get a plurality rather than a majority? It would require a series of runoffs.

Sounds good but imagine what we would have to do the reform the government. 200+ years of a system cannot be changed overnight. Peacefully, that is.
