I can't express enough how much I dislike this guy. Everything about him, in my opinion, is wrong. He is sinking a potential country into an endless misery. Do you think Venezuela will become a second Cuba? Why do you agree or disagree? How much impact it would have in the world's economic (oil), international relationships, and with Venezuela's society this century 21 socialism?

Chavez is an idiot who will drive his country into the ground. Venezuela will not become a second Cuba, and I predict the military AND the citizenry will revolt and overthrow him.

Withholding Venezuela's oil will raise oil prices somewhat, but will sharply reduce Venezuela's trade revenues and Venezuela will starve. Chavez is not long for this world.

Mija, Chavez will impact the world's economy, but we all would move on in a matter of weeks if not days, however the poor people of Venezuela are going to continue to be poor or poorers, the rich of Venezuela are going to fleet or are fleeing as we speaking living Venezuela in an Economical Caos.

Chavez may or may not have good intentions for Venezuela but his association with Castro only cause damage to his image.

Chavez is a blow hard and a threat. Not a major threat to us like Iran or North Korea but a threat. I was concerned when the president of Iran, Ahmadinejad, visited there. Two twits who have no love for America. Could Ahmadinejad be using Venezuela as a base to launch terrorist attacks? It would be like Chavez to offer that to Iran.
And I think he's loving the limelight; his appearance at the UN showed that he thinks he's a great wit when in reality he's a half wit.
Often evil people like him will get the support of the poor in their country - Marcos in the Philippines, Mugabe in Zimbabwe, Thaksin in Thailand. The poor know no better and can be mobilized for a couple of bucks apiece to show up at huge demonstrations.
He's trouble.

Venezuela has already become another Cuba, in every way except for the way they are recognized and treated by the US government.

He is an oppressive dictator who would like nothing more than to have the world bow at his feet. Lets hope that there are more Venezuelans who are willing to do something about it than there were Cubans.

Americans support democracy as long as the country is America's lap dog. Chavez is a democratically elected leader, who has taken his country's resources off foreign ownership
(mostly American) and refuses to be pushed around by America. America has deposed elected leaders previously in south America. If we had a world vote on who is more popular Bush or Chavez then for every vote Bush got Chavez would have 1000000. Bush is America's most unpopular leader in history.

No one has to revolt against Chavez all they have to do is vote him out, Americanans hate him but they arn't citizens and it isn't their business. The Venezuelan elite hate him , but tough for him welcome to democracy.

Americans forget that most democratic western countries are far more socialist that America is. America is out of step with the rest of the world in thinking socialism is bad.

It is really to bad the world has people like him, the problem is he treats his people so well with low prices, health care and all, it is difficult to get him out of office....it may take a long time before his economy collapses and the people turn against him...
