I want to know if the pay would remain the same in the long run? Does anyone have a management position at a hospital out there? If so, I want to know if you like your job, and a little about what you do each day. Thanks.

I majored in Health Adminstration from Auburn University. As far as the pay, it depends on what sector you worked in. I am working for a Healthcare Consulting firm, (not a hospital), most of my friends are working for Nursing homes. The pay is going to get better in future remember in this major people are always dying and people will always need health insurance. Even if legislature changes and WE the country do decided to switch to national health insurance, we will still have jobs. I worked as Hospital Appeals Coordinator, just recently graduated am i living in Alabama, working in Georgia making 32k. Most of my friends are making around the same figure. Most of us got jobs, due to our internship we had to to do in the program at college. The key is to network in college. I also have a friend who major in Psychology and it took her 4 months to find a job after graduation, but she now works at hosptial as Child Care Adolescent worker making 28k., but in order for her to get a better paying and more meaning job, she will have to attend Grad school, in the near future. in the Health Care field there are always better oppourtunites and not most of them require higher education. You will need a Master to run a hospital and about 15 years of experience. Keep your major, you just need to talk to your guidance cousler or your professors if you are worried about money and not being able to find a job. Most of the students in my graduating class and classes before me, had jobs even before graduation. Stick with it, it is really a good major and you can do alot of things with it. Please visit my school website, we have a page of possible jobs/carrers (that our graudates have obtain) www.auburn.edu/ha

First off you need a MASTERS to become a high school counselor. Why dont people get that? Second, you would be a low-level social worker an aide at best w/ only a bachelors.

Social Work now requires a master a MSW. Its is true that you need either a masters or PhD to make money in psych or even to make the degree worthwhile.

The job prospects in health care are great. Health care admin is a growing field. Plus, you can make a great living.

Everyone is getting a bachelors now days so to make yourself competitive you will need a masters in most fields especially the "helping" health care field.

Getting a degree in business is a gamble b/c yes you can make money but its not a guarantee that you will make a lot of money.

I wouldn't do that if you are just planning on getting a Bachelors. With a Bachelors in Psychology, the only job you will get is High School Counselor or Social Worker.

Neither is fun, and neither pays well. To make a decent living in Psych, you really NEED a Masters or PhD. You have more opportunity for advancement with Health Care Administration also.

Have you thought about general Business Administration? It's a broader (and more marketable) topic than focusing on just Health Care.

Good luck!

To do most interesting and well-paying jobs with a psychology degree, you need to have *AT LEAST* a masters degree, and in most jobs it's really preferred that you have a doctoral degree.

I would go and talk to some of the professors in both the health care administration program which you're currently focusing and professors in the psychology department. talk to them about what you're interested in doing and hopefully they'll be able to point you in the right direction :)
