I started wearing glasses when I was 12 years old. In 2002, those glasses I used to wear, I didn't really needed to wear it because I can see normally. In 2006, I went back to my doctor and he write me a new glasses but this time, I have to wear it all of the time. He said that my eyes were getting worst.

I cried because I was wondering what if my eyes keep getting worst as I get older. Why am I the only one wearing a glasses in the family? My whole family can see everything perfectly.

I can't see stuff or people that are far away. But I can see clear when images are closer.

I've been wearing glasses since 3rd grade. They aren't all that bad, nothing to cry over. Everyone is different. Your eyes are different from your moms, or dads, or siblings. Do your granparents have glasses? Maybe they did when they were your age. I was the only one with glasses at my age. Then at around middle school/high school many people got glasses. It is common for your senses to change during puberty. Although i have had glasses since i was 8, and was not going through puberty yet, my mom has had eye trouble since she was young. My brother, on the other hand has actually had the best eyes in the house, and when he was 14, he needed to get glasses, for reading. He was going through puberty, along with many others, nd a bunch of people needed glasses. it's pretty common. Don't worry about it, having glasses is no big deal, and your eyes may get worse, but you can just continue to get a better prescription, as well as a different style in glasses!

I was the only one in my family that needed glasses also. Dont feel bad. People are different.
1. Some people wear glasses when they are little, they grow and dont need them anymore.

2. Other people (me) wear them when they are little, and every year when you go to the optometrist you need more and more and more prescription. Until you reach like 21+ your vision might start stabilizing.

I wouldnt feel too bad if I were you, you can use contacts, until you decide to get the surgery or see if your vision corrects. I just had surgery a month ago after 10 yrs of contacts/glasses, I love it :D cheer up.

Good Luck

I had to wear glasses since the fourth grade. I couldn't even see my clock radio from my bed. I think eyes do change as we get older. I wore glasses for about 25 years. I had laser surgery on my eyes in 2001 to correct my vision. It was one of the best things I have ever done. However, the doctor did tell me, I will probably need reading glasses when I am older.

Your vision cannot get worse if you don't wear your glasses. There is a book that is good for reducing your dependance on glasses, it is called "Take off you glasses and see!", I don't recall the author.

Your eyes will get worse as you age. Glasses are not a bad thing. I have glasses. I don't want to stick contacts in my eyes and don't want surgery, there aren't any other options. If people tease you, they don't really think they make you look ugly. They are just trying to get a reaction out of you. Respond by smiling and sticking out your tongue at them. They'll get sick of it eventually.

I too am the only one that wears glasses in my family. Embrace it and see it this way, you can accessorize with your glasses or upgrade to contacts if you don't want to wear glasses anymore. The choice is all yours now. Just about everyone can wear contacts now and they make a right fit for everyone.
Good Luck!

Talk to your doctor since he/she knows your history and ask for advice.

I started wearing glasses in high school because I was near-sighted. It got a little worse throughout high school and college. However, by my mid-thirties my vision started improving. My doctor explained that this often happens with near-sightedness.

Contact lenses are getting better and more comfortable and laser eye surgery is becoming more common.

Try not to worry and let your doctor know your concerns.
