EAST:

Yankees will win the AL East due to the acquisition of Kei Igawa and Andy Pettitte, we know Pettitte is a great pitcher, and Kei might be a good 3 or 4 starter. If Pavano is back, everyone watch out.

Mets will win it because they still have the same team pretty much, they could work on their pitching, maybe get a young gguy in, but they're offense is great, and as long as they score more runs than they give up that's a win.

CENTRAL:

Twins will it get even though they have Santana as pretty much the lone good SP. Liriano isn't gonna be very useful, and Radke wasn't great, but he got the job done. Boof Bonser is only in his second year, so you can't expect much, but with last year's best closer (Nathan would have had more SV, but he went 7-0 in relief), they have a chance. Morneau and Hunter can be the power, and Mauer can get on base.

The Cubs are gonna win this one, mainly because it's their time, they're tired of losing, they went out and got a great manager, pikced up Soriano, picked up Lilly, and they have Aramis Ramirez, and Derrek Lee. If Kerry Wood OR Mark Prior can make a comeback they'd be useful, but don't count on them to be 2003 and 1998 form.

WEST:

The Rangers have a really good chance at this one, they picked up a great guy for manager, he was gold for the A's at third, we'll see how he manages, they've got the best first-baseman in the AL, Teixeria can field and hit for power and average. Michael Young is Ichiro's only real competitor at hitting in the AL (hopefully Lofton batting first won't ruin his 200 hit season streak), and Blalock is a great offensive player. Kenny Lofton will be a good leadoff man, he's shown us he's still fast, and can perform well. The pitching might be a problem since they lost Cordero, and they have no great relievers, hoepfully Padila can perform well.

This is a tough one, a really tough one, it comes down to the Giants and the Dodgers in my opinion, the Padres lost their great coach, he was part of their success, and we know the Rockies and D-Backs aren't doing anything (unless Atkins and Holliday perform as well as the did in 2006). The Dodgers have Schmidt, Penny, and Lowe as their best starters, and Saito is an up and coming closer, not to mention the fact of having Nomar, Kent, Furcal, Pierre and Gonzo. I think the NL West is theirs.

WILD CARD:

The Red Sox are going to the playoffs as a Wild Card, again. They have a decent staff, DiceK will hopefully live up to the height and Beckett is a reliable starter. Papelbon becoming a starter is just stupid, he was a great closer, hopefully they'll switch the role of Pineiro to starter and let Papelbon close, but Hansen is on the team so you ever know.

The Giants will prolly get the Wiild Card. They got a great manager in Bochy, he's proven to be a key reason why the Padres have been doing so good. Zito is a great pitcher (still not 126 million pitcher), Bonds will hopefully play better than 2006 (at least get 100 hits), and Roberts is great on the basepaths (Yankee fans know that) and Klesko might be what we were looking for in a first baseman. Durham is a great 2B and let's pray for another 2006, Feliz is getting better each year, and Lowry and Cain are just two of our pitching propects.

WORLD SERIES:

I'm gonna say the Yankees are gonna beat the Mets in 7. They both are great teams, so don't look for the sweep, the Mets lack of pitching is what will get them.

So many people are forgetting that the Twins have a one-man pitching rotation this season. Liriano is out all year and Radke retired. That leaves Boof Bonser as the number two, Carlos Silva as the number three and then any combination of Matt Garza, Glen Perkins, Scott Baker and (God help us) Sidney Ponson to round out the rotation. I think they'll be good but the Tigers and White Sox definitely have the edge in the arms race!

Again, these are all based on current rosters. If Clemens signs with the Astros/Red Sox/Yankees...expect the balance of power to shift immensely!!

i imagine this season that is going to come right down to the A's and Tigers back the ALCS and the Brewers and Mets interior the NLCS. that can make me anticipate a international sequence of Oakland As vs. lengthy island Mets with the A's popping out on right.
