False Flag Operations by governments have been documented through history since the start of human civilization. Yet whenever you bring up the fact that the US government has been caught hundreds of times, some people's only retort is "you're a tin-foil hat wearer". Why is that?

If you say ANTHING that is outside the scope of another person's awareness, the shock of it forces them to consider the source insane, rather than deal with the fact that the world is not as they thought.

The only ones I've seen getting called that are the ones prognosticating that it's going to happen later this week or month vis a vis Iran, and then using their premonition to insult Bush and the Republicans.

If something is a fact, that's one thing, but to comment about an imaginary future event? That's tin-foil hat country.

Only those who lack a logical explanation to support thier theory are "tin-foil hat" wearers. The majority of 9/11 conspiracy theorists do lack a consistent logical explanation for alot of questions regarding thier theories.

Not everyone who makes claims of a flase flag operation is said to be wearing a tin foil hat. Just those people who let their paranoia blind them to the lack of argument supporting their theory.

Unfortunately these days people think a Photoshopped picture constitutes proof.

Probably because you have no proof of any specific false flag operations, just a general allegation that the USA sucks, or something to that effect.

I totally agree. To call every crackpot kool-aid drinking conspiracy therorist a "tin-foil hat wearer" is a disservice. Some of them wear aluminum-foil hats, and we should differentiate between the two.
Good point!

You might need to try something stronger than tin-foil. Use a cast iron pot and switch all your plumbing to lead.

They can't see through cast iron and your prolonged use of lead pipes will help the rest of us.

Because they don't know history or the strategic intelligence of military operations. It's easy to insult when you don't have knowledge.

The main goal of war on either side is to win no matter how it is done.
