I've got my 20 week scan next week and I am still totally stuck on whether I sdhould find out me and my b/f both keep changing our minds...
Reasons for finding out: Buy clothes and accessories, get used to the idea, pick a name, find out whether I need to decorate or not(room is already pink)
Reasons for not finding out: Suspense will keep pregnancy exciting, will be exciting finding out at birth, can still buy neutral stuff and pick out a name for each sex.

What do you think......

Hi, i was exactly the same with my first born. i dont think you should decide to find out or not right now.

when you go for the scan you will know straight away what is the best thing to do. Those are very good pros and cons but honestly i dont think you can decide until your there just incase you go for one answer and change your mind.

Hi, I'm 24 weeks pregnant and we didn't want to find out. That was the first thing we told the person doing the scan.
Chose 1 girls name and 1 boys name and just paint the nursery a neutral colour.
We are painting ours lemon and mint and buying some Winnie the Pooh stickers to brighten it up.
As for the clothes, when baby is born you will get loads of stuff anyway so if you are buying clothes just get neutral ones.
Keep it as a surprise its more exciting. Good luck anyway!

I didn't find out the sex of my baby. On the day of the scan I was very tempted, but resisted and now I'm really glad I didn't because it will be a lovely surprise, and every day I wonder what this little baby is. I love to ponder on it, but not know. It gives the whole thing an air of mystery and reminds me that this pregnancy is a gift, and not something I can be fully in control of.
There aren't many lovely surprises in life, so make this one of them. People say it's still a surprise when you find out at the scan, but it's not the same, because that extra 20 weeks of wondering what it is makes a lot of difference.

Noooooooooooo don't do it.

It is a wonderful thing to announce the birth of a baby and to tell all family, friends etc, what you have had and all the details. They will help with clothes and accessories that would have been brought especially for the new addition, not just cos you are having a baby.

Just my penny worth and do hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy, delivery etc. Dont' forget to ask a Q soon after so all us yahoo answerers will be in on the news.

Good Luck.

there is something else to consider, some hospitals will not tell you the sex of your child because theres always a small risk they could be wrong. Ie: the umbilical cord can be mistaken for a boy. The places that got it wrong have been sued for loads because parents brought everything for that baby and got used to it being that sex.
Personnally id buy stuff that is unisex and wait until the day...thats what i did for my two kids.
I would only try to find out in advance if there was a medical reason to know.
enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and i hope all goes well.

We left both of ours, so it was a suprise, we had a girl then a boy. We bought things like neutral coloured babygrows etc, did the nursery in neutral colours. Then when you feel like going out once you've give birth, you can start buying clothes for either a boy/girl according to what you have. Pick a girls name and a boys name so that youre ready for either. Congrats and Good Luck.

Me and my hubby went thru the same thing! LOL Everybody kept telling me find out that everything would be easier. Well 2 days before my ultrasound we decided to find out and we are thrilled we did, I wanted a boy he was ok with either. To our surprise it's a girl and that totally changed it all, we are beyond excited and looking so forward to meeting our lil princess!

24 weeks with my 1st!

if it's your first it's nice to havea surprise but if you find out what it is it wil save a fortune. 3 times i've bought everything white or creme but then when it's born you want like pink or blue. my last pregnancy i wanted to know cause i already had one of each and cause the way the baby was lying they couldn't tell. oh well congratulations and good luck!
