When I was in high school, we were told that condoms were 99% effective. Obviously that was the wrong information. I wonder how many teachers in school are teaching information that is actually true? Does anyone have a story like this?

Actually, where I grew up, sex education was very thourough and informative, so much so that you had to have parental consent in order to take it. We were taught about condoms being 85% effective, (they are 99% effective when used properly and with a spermicide, which is recommended with condom use) and we were taught about STD's, masterbation, all that stuff.. I had a great sex ed class, and it's made me comfortable enough to be able to answer any questions that my kids might have about sex when the time comes.

There are gays that are opposed to gay marriages. Some atheists deny evolution No one gets to teach God in science class heck we cant even say Merry Christmas in schools anymore we have to say Winter Soltice. My kids read Harry Potter if it gets them to read they can read whatever they want as long as they know the difference between truth and fiction I agree with you on the sex education oneand the gay teen one thats horrible, don't have a persecution complex I don't think I do at least I am blessed and held in high favor by God, any President can take counsel from a religious leader and how do you know whats being said he may be having a crisis of faith and that my dear is personal, we did not invade for that reason look up the pictures of London during an Islamic Peaceful protest it will make you sick, IGWT on money has been there and will be there it is History, The pledge is the same one we have always had and if you don't want to say it or have your kids say it well thats your business, I agree with the widow too because it is her husband and his wishes and it should have been allowed not everyone buried in a cemetary are christians. Sara- but it is just a theory. No matter what you think it is still called the Theory of evolution because the theory hasn't been proven well enough to be called fact. Sorry if you're mad at us for calling it what it is. I think you might need to rethink what you personally get mad at because that is a bit petty.

When used properly, condoms are closer to 85% effective. New scientific data may cause changes in results. It doesn't mean you were lied to, but that you were given the most current information at the time. Things change. They always will.

listen to this...i just started sex ed last yr. and this is the bad stuff about it:
- they FORCE u bsisically* to sighn the abstenice plege untill marrage
- they didnt even TELL us bout masterbation and condoms, ect, which means the ppl who WERE having active sex were having it unsafe, at least they could inform us, not hope they stop

* they put all the girls in a tiny room (to where we had to SHARE a desk) and gave us the pappers and told us all to sighn it and if we werent think about why we are sinners (we go to a public school, but behind the law our school take religion into the classroom and beyond, and wats worse is i am agnostic) so its prettty OBVIOUSE who isnt and is sighning, and if u dont they make rumors u r having active sex

Our class told us some bs about masturbation then tricked us into signing abstinence pledges. That was the worst sex ed class anybody could have taken.

When I was in high school, AIDS was still considered a gay man's disease. I'm quite sure education has moved up since then.

um they are like 99% effective if used correctly. actual usage effectiveness is much lower cause so many people use them wrong.
