what is a nice hotel on the STRIP to stay at, something close to everything, and not have to walk very far

Harrah's, it's right in the middle of the strip.

Aladdin is one of the nicest resorts on the Strip and right in the heart of everything. They usually run around $189 a night, but since they are converting to Planet Hollywood they have been under construction for a year and lost a lot of traffic. They finished most of the major work and reopened the brand new casino and rooms. i saw on travelWorm.com that they are doing a $49 bucks a night deal to drive traffic back there. That is the hottest deal around!

Of all the hotels I have stayed on the strip, the MGM is my favorite. The rooms are awesome and the prices are pretty reasonable.

Well depending on your budget (from my perceived order of cheapest to most expensive): Flaming, Ballys, The Aladdin/Planet Hollywood, Treasure Island, Ceasars Palace, Venetian, The Bellagio.

I would stay at the Monte Carlo. Not the cheapest hotel and not the most expensive. Plus the lay out to the hotel is fairly simple so you won't get lost every time you get out of the elevator! :-)

Harrah's is a pretty nice hotel to stay at that's pretty close to the heart of the action.
The one thing about Vegas is there is a lot of walking involved, no matter where you stay. Just the casinos are huge and take a lot of footwork to get across!
