Hollowware seems to have a broad range of definitions today, from hollow handled tools (lighter weight) to bowls, cups & plates.
But far enough back, I would expect it to be either iron or pottery. Hollow pottery is cast by pouring liquid slip in a dry plaster mold. The plaster sucks the water out of some of the clay, producing a shell from which the remaining liquid is poured out. After some moderate drying the item is removed from the mold and further treated and finally fired. Hollow cast iron is cast in pieces and braised together (think iron dog statues, etc.) Could also be iron cookware.
