I really love the idea of a tongue piercing and am so anxious to get one. But I am starting to get worried about being called slutty by my classmates. A couple girls who don't like me have already called me slutty, and I'm worried that if I get this piercing, the rumors will only get worse and I could have a horrible reputation for no reason.
I feel that if i don't get it, I won't be able to stand up for myself on issues like this, even after I graduate high school. But if I do get it, I will undoubtedly have to deal with a few whispers behind my back.
Should I trust my judgement and get this piercing? Or should I make life easier and try to eliminate the gossip?

I don't understand why getting your tongue pierced would make you slutty... either you're slutty or you're not, and where you choose to make extra holes doesn't change that.
I would suggest that you do some research on tongue piercings before you decide, though. Some people think they are "cool" with them, but they all sound stupid when they talk, and you run the risk of chipped teeth, severe pain, and even infection and loss of feeling in your tongue if something goes wrong... it seems like a lot of negatives for something you're not even sure you want.
If you do some research and are SURE this is what you want, then to h#ll with everyone else. It's your life and your body.

I am a 39 yr old mother of three. Body piercing did not become popular until I was in my 20's. I had my nose done around age 28 and my eyebrow done when I was 37. My company just changed the dress code and I had to take them out. I did not let my kids get any piercings until they were at least 16.
If you are old enough to make this decision and your parents are supportive then you should get it. Just remember that when the time comes to seek employment, you may have to take it out.
Some kids will say what they want no matter what you do. Some people just are not happy unless they are trying to make someone else miserable.

I'm 23, my husband use to have a tongue piercing but eventually took it out because he kept playing with it in his mouth with his teeth and it actually started messing up his teeth and even chipped one tooth. This is totally your decision and people who gossip usually aren't very confident in themselves that they have to put other's down to make themselves feel better. Don't feel bad about wanting a piercing despite what the "norm" is, but do keep in mind exactly what disadvantages a piercing like this could present, physically. You could always give it a go and find out, like my husband did, that it just isn't worth it, and take it out later. Or you may love it. It's entirely up to you. Hope this helps!

always go along with your gut instinct and that should lead u to make a wise judgement..as far as the piercing goes its not slutty i got mine done when i was 17 but i took it out afte i had my baby but there alright ..

They will gossip either way, you stated they already call you slutty. If you want it done then do it, don't worry about other females. Its your decision

you should always be yourself, even if some people make fun of you.
but if you are a minor, like me, you should get your parents permission. it will save you a lot of trouble in the end.
