How do I get past the skrewts in 4th Harry Potter pc game.?

I'm having some trouble getting past them. I don't know what I'm missing. Maybe it's a certain card or something. Now the skrewts I'm talking about is at the end of the maze when Harry is trying to get Cedric free. All that I can do is get them dazed you know like when they run into the wall or something. Need help. Also need help finding out how to get the shield that hangs in mid air in the Forbbiden Forest.

You have to kill two skrewts, have you been trying to just kill one? Try jinxing them from behind.
To get the sheild you have use the Herbology spell Herbivicous.
