We cannot put a complete end. If we use alternative energy sources, we can slow the global warming but the damage is already done and there is virtually NOTHING we can do about it.
One of the commenter is right, living organisms and earth go through cycles, in the end, Mother Nature is the one in charge and who changes everything. Look at dinosaurs, they once inhabited this earth and they are now extinct. Humans will not be around in this world for much longer. Everything in life that begins must end. We have already reached our peaking point and we are now slowly descending. With our contamination we have altered the ecosystem and the inferior plant and animal species. Now, we are seeing the consequences of our actions (stronger hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes) and it will continue and become stronger. Not only are we finishing our vital natural resources like drinking water but Mother Nature will eventually wipe us out!

Avoiding the issue of whether global warming is happening or not, then, no. Human history comes in cycles. Right now we are at a peak time in technology. It is highly unlikely that humans can keep up at the pace we are going. We will likely hit a slump at some point and technology will recede somewhat and then if global warming is going on then it will recede also.

If such a problem really existed, then yes, I'm sure it could be ended. But it doesn't exist, since the same people 20 years ago talked about "global cooling" (we were all apparently going to freeze to death)

No. The earth's temperature has been changing throughout its history, and will do so irrespective of anything mankind does. As for atmospheric CO2 levels, it is true that they have been increasing, but they were four times as high during the time of the dinosaurs as they are now.

If there is such a thing, the answer is not in our lifetime. When there are people dieing today because of the winter weather, now's not a good time to discuss it, wait until summer.

No. It is a natural cycle.

Warming is good for life anyway. Plants and animals thrive in warmer climates.

If we're responsible for it we can curb it and reduce it yes.

The Al Gore movie (Inconvenient Truth) gives a number of ways we can help at the end.

I think we've already done too much. There is nothing we really CAN do and no one really seems to be showing any signs of trying to stop it so I think, altogether...we're screwed. =)
