Democrat or Republican - I am an American and I owe my President COMPLETE respect. I didn't care for Clinton but I would defend him like I would defend my country. If I don't like it I can VOTE!!!
Namecalling is for people to ignorant to talk above a third grade level, it's all the defense they have. I have had great debates with friends about politics and they never go to name calling. By the way - I did vote for Clinton and I did vote for Bush!!!

Hurts when the shoes on the other foot.....eh?

Yes derogatory remarks really aren't helping matters, but I seem to remember Republicans using derogatory remarks at the whole Democratic party because of the Clinton debacle.

Bill Clinton's extramarital affairs never should have been a public forum. When the Republicans couldn't convict him of illegal activity they went after his character in the bedroom.
Being a sitting president he never should have been made to testify against himself in a civil case. There are laws in place to prevent that from happening.
Once made to testify in front of Congress yes.....he should not have lied. He was impeached for lying under oath.
Republicans had a field day throwing derogatory remarks around then....
So are you really suprised that Democrats are repaying the favor?
Do as I say ....Not as I do.
That's typical Republican policy!

he represents power, of which Americans have none.

If you've been around long enough you would see that no matter who is a leader of this country, they will be tormented and ridiculed.
it is a terribly sad thing to see grown people succumb to childish endeavors to effect change. but, in part, I blame the government for not letting the people feel like they DO have any control over important decisions that effect us all.

It has nothing to do with like or dislike. It is a question of respect. What precisely has Bush done since he entered office to garner a shred of respect? Name one thing?

I suspect most people do not respect Bush because he has alienated the world against the US, he invaded a country without justification which has resulted in over three thousand American deaths, and, more important, the man cannot speak coherently or in complete sentences. It is embarrassing.

Excellent point.

Although I think it all really emerged with the Rush Limbaugh radio show. You remember the show where he referred to the president, Bill Clinton, and his wife Hillary as liars, thieves, horrible and such. Then, the extreme right adopted this form of hate speech into their vocabulary. Then they began calling "liberals" every sort of hideous name. Finally, the "liberals" got fed up with being a verbal punching bag and decided to fight back which lowered the standard of discussion.

I'm neither a "liberal" nor "conservative" myself as you cannot quantify my views with one broad brush. I do happen to not like the current administration. You don't have to be a "liberal" to not like the current administration.

i just think he has made critical mistakes which in the long run will only create more terrorists. i am not one for name calling, but his mistakes and lack of judgement have cost the US a lot not only now with the budget, and with the lives of young americans. but in the future as well with the increased amount of hatred that is now pointed at america.

People follow the lead of the Defeatacrat/demoncrap Party
They have no respect for their selves and can't show any for the Office of the President
Like or hate him RESPECT the OFFICE of the President not the man
What goes around will come back on the demos if ever a demo is elected

I'm no expert on name calling,so I'll have to take you at your word that's it's at a "grade school" level, If I may ask, what would a" High "school level of name calling sound like? So, to answer your written question, I don't know why..

name calling and joking are a means of acceptance.. it shouldn't be taken personal.. people can't readily accept many of the things Bush has done that they disagree with so the brain resorts to such tricks naturally to help the process along.. it's the same reason some people laugh at funerals.. just in a different setting.

also.. not everyone will be at the same level of maturity as yourself.. we tend to think that everyone knows what we know and holds the same truths.. it just isn't so.
