I switched years ago to full synthetic oil in my 1996 Cougar. Partly because I knew already that it was a better oil to use but also because my mom drove my dad's new truck for hours in a snow storm with the oil light on. The only thing that saved his truck engine was the synthetic oil he used. However, it is out of my budget to maintain the full synthetic and I'm over due for an oil change. So, will it hurt to switch to the blend?

Yes, switching between full synthetic, synthetic blend, or regular oil is fine as long as the recommend oil weight is used.

See myth #4 on this link

(however, pay no attention to the instructions about changing the oil every 3,000 miles. That is there to help Quaker State sell more oil)

Synthetics are fully interchangeable with petroleum based oils. It is fine to change to a blend. You just won't have as much friction protection as the full synthetic.

You can but it won't save you money. You have to change the oil twice as often when it's not full synthetic. You can go 10,000 miles between changes with Mobil 1.

Perfectly fine.... just keep in mind a blend, isn't half and half... they add synthetic to it like a additive, so most syn blends barely have 20 percent synthetic in them....

I'd recommend making your own! if you want a true blend that is.. just half conventional of the same brand, and half synthetic of the same brand if you must have a blend.

Yes you can change but why ? Synthetic only seems more expensive you only need to change oil every 6000 to 8000 miles not 3000 as with conventional oil.

No.

A healthy engine will tolerate the switch easily.

Think about it, you're switching to synthetic BLEND. The very name implies that synthetic is compatible with conventional oil.

if its an oil made for motorcycles with wet clutches, then you should be fine. if its a synthetic made for cars and trucks, the slickening agents in the oil cause the clutch to constantly slip, quickly ruining the clutch

no it shouldn't hurt as long as the car does not require that kind of oil and even then it shouldn't hurt it ,just remember to change the filter as well.
