Nothing... you don't have to do anything because people today are too judgmental and too over-analytical for their own good.

The devil is in the details. When you're in a bad mood, you losen your muscles from the stress and your face droops and becomes more relaxed. When you're happier, your muscles start working and it makes your face a little firmer. This may not be true, but it feels right.
I used to get that a lot from people because I'm introverted and working on it. A relaxed droopy face usually means you're somewhere else. Being around people should be mutually pleasant, and the fact that they're telling you this means that they want that connection with you. It's really up to you on how you'll do that. Maybe you're not happy and you don't realize it.
The human brain is social. You can only truly be happy when you're with other people, and THAT is a proven fact.

Long ago, in a place faraway, everyone used to ask my mother why she was mad all the time. So she went to a plastic surgeon and he did an eye-lift which cost her tons and was very painful. Now the lids have sagged back down with age. Gee!! That was quick!! Lasted maybe 3 years!! Someone else I thought of--------but what-----------oh your smile???? Ask your dentist next time you go in (like we all go in every 6 months for cleaning and to be reminded to floss on the way out!!! Right, that happens!!!!) I think you're cute as a Bessie Bug from your Picture!! How does THAT make you feel??? Was it worth asking your question??? Well then, you just need to work around more females, or whatever, and maybe things will begin to make you smile more. Otherwise, tell them they have something stuck in their teeth. Or ask a guy if that's his real hair!! Or the girl if she ever used to wear higher heels!!! Use your imagination on the Nosy Parkers. Hey, Wait!! The Nosy Parkers live next to ME!!!! Guess that's a common name though. Good Luck!!!! @8-)

I get it all the time and while I don't have a definitive answer, I have several theories:
I have a serious personality and people aren't used to it.
I am of an ethnic background and having a serious demeanor makes people assume I am upset (might be provocative, but I think it is true).
My thoughts are more transparent than I think and it shows. The only thing I have noticed to work is to change my internal demeanor.

Are you naturally a serious person? I am asked that sort of thing often because I am not a "smiley" person, but mostly only by those who don't know me. Once I let them get to know me they notice the irreverence bubbling quietly beneath the surface. Then they think I am a hoot (nearly as annoying, that). Perhaps you are not letting anyone know you well enough to gage your reactions?

When you look angry or sad, people will project that onto themselves and might feel that they may be the cause. Maybe the reason they bring it up is because they are fishing for the reason to make sure its not them. People are pretty insecure about the roles they play in other peoples lives.

Learn to lighten up. Tell a joke, smile for no reason, play practical jokes on your antagonist.

This is a part of who you are...and nothing to worry about...you can't smile at every time of the day....I have the same situation here...and its annoying to hear every time that " why are you so serious".
take care.

Try practicing in the mirror softening your look. Or think something pleasant. You are emoting your inner feelings unconsiously.

Mann, just live your life and forget what other people think or feeling. It is all about what God thinks or feel about you.
