I've been to Tokyo. It's a great place with plenty of things to do. Trust me. You won't get bored.

Tokyo will blow your mind.
You can find small shrines and Japanese gardens on the top floor of office buildings.
In other words, instead of a heliport, some office building have GARDENS!!!! Outside under the sun. If that ain't awesome I dunno what is.
I think the best part about Tokyo is that you can party hard and you can relax / chill as long as you know where to go. Best of both worlds baby!!
Of course that is if you truly enjoy the Japanese culture.
If you're not into many things Japanese, then you will probably have a hard time adjusting.

been living here for 5 years. Like it. It can be noisy and crowded but it's convenient, safe, fun. There's interesting stuff sometimes tucked away in the nooks and crannies like shrines and temples and the like.
Check out my blog.

It has a number of stories on Tokyo stuff particularly this one on Lost in Translation:

There have many people been to Tokyo. Right now it's around 12,678,395 people who really are here, right at the moment. I can completely confirm this.

I used to go almost every weekend. It's fun! Lots of places to explore, whether you want to go shopping, clubbing, sightseeing at temples, or just to a good restaurant, it's fantastic!
Be prepared, it's a very busy place (especially Shibuya and Shinjuku).
