What are the best lyrics you've ever come across and why?
Did they mean anything to you, make you laugh, cry or just remember a really good time?
Also name the song

I'll add some of mine....
"I want to have the same last dream again,
the one were I wake up and I'm alive,
just as the four walls close me within,
my eyes are opened up with pure sunlight.
I'm the first to know, my dearest friends,
even if your hope has burned with time,
anything thst touched shall be regrown,
and your vicious pain, your warning sign, it will be fine"
Angel and Airwaves - The Adventure
A tough time in my life when I first heard this and could relate very well.

Oasis - The Masterplan
And all the things that came have past
The answers in the looking glass
Theres four and twenty million doors
Down lifes endless corridor
I think what they mean by Theres four and twenty millions doors are doors of opportunity in life, and its down to us to choose our path. I find it quite inspirational.

Where did I go wrong?
I lost a friend somewhere along in the bitterness
And I could have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life
-How To Save A Life by The Fray
I love these lyrics because they're so honest and true, even though they're kinda sad. I also love the story behind why The Fray wrote this song, it's so touching.

Tank Park Salute - Billy Bragg. Nothing particularly profound, but a heartfelt song about his (deceased) Dad.
Kiss me goodnight and say my prayers
Leave the light on at the top of the stairs
Tell me the names of the stars up in the sky
A tree taps on the window pane
That feeling smothers me again
Daddy is it true that we all have to die
At the top of the stairs
Is darkness
I closed my eyes and when I looked
Your name was in the memorial book
and what had become of all the things we planned
I accepted the commiserations
Of all your friends and your relations
But there's some things I still don't understand
You were so tall
How could you fall?
Some photographs of a summer's day
A little boy's lifetime away
Is all I've left of everything we've done
Like a pale moon in a sunny sky
Death gazes down as I pass by
To remind me that I'm but my father's son
I offer up to you
This tribute
I offer up to you
This tank park salute

I have a few!
First off-anything from Hatebreed's new CD Supremacy. They're soo inspirational. With lyrics like "So push on without fear, for only you govern what tomorrow holds", "Mind over all" and "I promise to myself to never be my own defeatist", the entire CD just inspires me.
The other 2:
"Better Today" & "Yourself", both are by Faktion. http://www.myspace.com/faktiondallas
Faktion has absolutely KA music. I love their music, and I try to promote them haha. They were signed to Roadrunner (that ended a month or 2 ago), and they didn't get promoted at all. They deserve so much more.
I want to give you reasons both for promoting the band and for those songs.
As far as the band goes, they are absolutely amazing people. They care about their fans more than nearly any other band out there today. They will personally respond to any message you send them and everything. The music is amazing. It's really touched me and my life. Their live show is the best. I want them to get the recognition they deserve.
#1. Better Today- the whole song is about putting negativity behind you. "Had no reason to feel down, for I have found that my negativity starts inside of me". How true is that?
#2. Yourself. It's all about doing things for yourself, because tomorrow is never promised.
Lyrics are at http://www.faktionband.com/lyrics/
Check them out, they mean a lot to me.
Check out Faktion, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!! =)

anything by the libertines or pete doherty babyshambles etc, like this libertines song "The Good Old Days"
he really is very talented and the media need to leave pete alone.
If you've lost your faith in love and music
Oh the end won't be long
Because if it's gone for you then I too may lose it
And that would be wrong
I've tried so hard to keep myself from falling
Back into my bad old ways
And it chars my heart to always hear you calling
Calling for the good old days
Because there were no good old days
These are the good old days
It's not about, tenements and needles
And all the evils in their eyes
And the backs of their minds
Daisy chains and school yard games
And a list of things we said we'd do tomorrow
A list of things we said we'd do tomorrow

Tim McGraw- Don't take the girl
Johnny's daddy was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate holding a fishing pole
His dad looked down and smiled, said we can't leave her behind
Son, I know you don't want her to go but someday you'll change your mind
And Johnny said "Take Jimmy Johnson, take Tommy Thompson, take my best friend Bo
Take anybody that you want as long as she don't go
Take any boy in the world
Daddy, please don't take the girl
Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Ten years down the road
He held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm Said "If you do what I tell you to, there
won't be any harm" And Johnny said "Take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here's the watch that my grandpa gave me
Here's the key to my car
Mister give it a whirl
But please don't take the girl
Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Five years down the road
There's going to be a little one, and she says it's time to go
Doctor says the baby's fine but you'll have to leave
'Cause his momma's fading fast and Johnny hit his knees
And there he prayed
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
I'll gladly take her place if you'll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don't take the girl
Johnny's daddy
Was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old
this song makes me laugh, smile, cry. its so sad but its such a great love story. i absolutely LOVE it.

I think Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. It was as though you could somehow relate to at least some part of the song; despite it making no sense. Best song, lyrics and video ever!

this song means everything to me and it just happens to be by the best group ever for me, i can really put this song to feelings and never grow bored of listening to it.
Give me novacaine.
Take away the sensation inside
Bitter sweet migraine in my head
Its like a throbbing tooth ache of the mind
I cant take this feeling anymore
Drain the pressure from the swelling,
This sensations overwhelming
Give me a kiss goodnight and everything will be alright
Tell me that I wont feeling a thing
So give me Novacaine
Out of body and out of mind
Kiss the demons out of my dreams
I get the funny feeling, thats alright
Jimmy says its better than here,
Drain the pressure from the swelling
This sensations overwhelming
Give me a long kiss goodnight and everything will be alright,
Tell me that I wont feel a thing,
Oh Novacaine,
Drain the pressure from the swelling
This sensations overwhelming
Give me a long kiss goodnight and everything will be alright
Tell me Jimmy I wont feel a thing
So give me Novacaine,

Probably anything by The Smiths/Morrissey or They Might Be Giants because they're so downright weird and fun to sing to.
Like "Constantinople" (TMBG) or "Bigmouth Strikes Again" (THe Smiths):
"And now I know how Joan of Arc felt
Now I know how Joan of Arc felt
As the flames rose to her roman nose
And her Walkman started to melt "

I love the Artic Monkeys song mardy bum as it reminds me of me & my fella
I'm not a mardy bum,
Ive seen you frown and its like looking down the barrel of a gun,
and it goes off and out come all these words,
oh theres a very pleasent side to you, a side i much prefer,
the one that laughs & jikes around,
remember cuddles in the kitchen yeah,
to get tings off the ground,
and it was - up up and away,
oh but its rite hard to remember that on a day like today,
when you all argumentative and you've got the face on.
It just reminds me of myself when I'm being moody and the song makes my fella laugh cos he said its just like me
also 2 little boys by rolf harris remind me of when i was bowt 2 and my mum used to sing to me
