Im also having sharp lower stomach pain and a tightening of the upper abdomen. I've lost lost my plug already. Does this sound like Braxton Hicks or real labor pain?

You are in labor! Call your ob/gyn and head to the hospital!

Congrats :)

The feeling like your about to start your period is the feeling of the cervix thinning and changing. Ive had those for three weeks now.

The lower stomach pain is also part of contractions and the cervix changing. The upper part is just more braxon hicks. Braxon hicks can be painful, mine generally are if theyre real strong ones.

Ive actually had 3 nights of back labor... only without any progress into active labor. lol. Wait until you can time your contractions and they dont go away in an hour or two. THey have to be regular. Like clock work.

Real labor is unmistakable. You wont miss it, i promise.

The contractions are painful, you cant talk or walk through them, they usually start at the top of your belly work around the sides and into your back and under your belly and even into your thighs. They last around 40 seconds before relaxing again, and are about 5 minutes from start of one, to the start of the other. And they go on like that for atleast an hour.

You'll get there. We both will... lol.

If it's real labor the pains will come and go and they will start to develope into a pattern getting closer and closer together. Generally speaking B/H contractions relieve themselves with time, and/or a hot bath. Take a bath and see how you feel after. If they start to pick up your in real labour. Wait until the pains come ever 5 mins for over an hour and last for about a minute a piece. That way you don't risk going into the hospital and having them send you home again.

Pain like you are going to start your period most likely is you dilating. Which is good, more dilating more labor and baby comes out. Tighting of your abdomen is most likely contractions, are they regular (example every 10 minutes) or irregular (example one at 10 min one at 9 min and one at 11 min). If they are regular it is labor if not false labor.

Sounds like labor - start timing them and if they're regular and getting stronger and more frequent, then yes, you're in labor. Go to hospital when contractions get to be about 5 minutes apart.

Maybe real labor pain! I have had 1 of my own and that's how it feels BUT how close together are they and how long do they last because if they don't last long or are not close together they MAY send you home.
