Closet organizers work beautifully. I turned my one hanging bar closet into four hanging bars with a set of shelves down the middle. Now I can hang all my stuff easily, and have room to store my sweaters and jeans in the middle.

when I travel, I roll the clothes in my suitcase to allow for the maximum amount of room. At home I try to hang dry all of my clothes except under garments - this way they just have to hang in the closet when they are dry. One side of my closet is tops & the other side is bottoms. As I go crazy trying things on - mixed with things I've worn for an hour and are still 'clean' I drape over the hooks on the inside of my closet door &/or over my bed....Not sure if this will help, though, b/c I , too have a lot of clothes so this method does end up getting a little messy before laundry day.

I am the same way... you have to keep on top of the mess before it get out of hand because once it gets crazy and you cant even walk through your room you just dont want to clean it up because you know how long it will take. What i do is always try to throw the dirty clothes in the laundry basket. Then your clean clothes just try to put them away right away so they dont pile up. If you have clean clothes when you get back from your trip put them away immediately and put your dirty ones in a laundry hamper.

I have a lot of clothes, too! I use three rules to help clean out the mess. Does it fit? Have I worn it since I met my husband? Do I remember even owning it? Fashionistas say you should get rid of it if you haven't worn it in a year, but I can't stick to that.

After that, I organize by type - s/s shirts, l/s shirts, skirts, jackets, pants.

One of the best suggestions I saw for the shoes was putting a polaroid of the shoes on the front of the box so you can identify the box at a glance.

I just moved from a house with a huge walk in closet to one with a small closet, I feel your pain!
I organize all of my clothes by color. Not only does it look cleaner, but you can always find what you need if you know what color it is, and can look at other sections to get outfit ideas. All of my tank tops are stacked up in a wire cubbyhole thing so that I can just pull one out and can see them all. My t-shirts and long sleeved t's are in the bureau, along with seperate drawers for my jeans and my comfy/workout pants (all other pants are hung up). My shoes are lined up according to color on the top of my closet, also, and I have a hanging shoe rack for those that don't fit at top of the closet. When packing, like others have said, I plan every outfit for ever day, pack accessories and toiletries, and then put everything in the suitacase.

I have one walk in closet of winter/fall clothes and one of summer/spring clothes. I have one side of each closet with casual clothes and the other of dress clothes. pants / blouses/dresses/skirts all bunched in groups. Like colors together as well. All of my jackets and coats are in another closet. So even when packing I have no trouble pulling out of the closet what I need and finding it right quick. I am very proactive about hanging everything up - I travel a lot as well and if I weren't good about keeping things hung up and laundered I'd have a mess. I have two shoe racks of shoes and a hanging rack that holds purses so I can find all of that easily as well. I wasn't this organized all my life though - it's just evolved over the years to make things easier on myself.

normally, in a big pile on a papasian chair, very difficult to find clothes. when i take the time to put them all away, i have my closet set up so that all similar items are together (skirts, dresses, pants, then reg shirt, going out shirts, button down shirts, sweat coats, spring coats, winter coats, etc) I have sweaters folded on shelves, jeans folded on shelves. tshirts, tanks and sweatpants away in dresser. Luckily, I have three closets so I can actually put everything away, if I really want to take the time to do so.

I also have alot of clothes and we also travel every weekend. I have all my shoes n the top of the closet and then i put all my coats together and dresses, skirts, pants, and shirts, then i place my uniforms for work together. When I travel even with my husband and kids I place outfit along with my underclothes in order in the suit case.

How I organize my clothes? Ok, Like in my closet or like im my drawers I'd sort by color and catagory (ex. tank tops, underwear, pants, T-shirts, socks, etc.) like in my drawers for my T-shirts I would fist fold the sides in. Then fold it half way, then fold it half way again. Then put it to the side then I do that with the rest when Im done I put them in my drawers, red's 1st, orange 2nd, yellow, green, blue, and so on and so on... In my closet I would do the same except not fold it. I put my jeans or skirts up first then my blouses (I put my t-shirts in my drawers and my blouses in my closet), then my sweaters last. Then I Put my socks, pajamas etc. in my drawers seperate. It doesn't really matter the way you put that its just something you wear at night. Well I hope this makes sense. lol! Hoped I helped! ♥

i have a large closet where all my clothes are hung. I sort them by color (it might take a while but it's worth it later). So if i want to where yellow, i go to the yellow section. Also i have two rows (one on top, one on bottom), of clothes, on for short sleeves/tank tops/beaters and on row for sweaters/long-sleeve shirts/vests, etc.

it's a good idea, try it, i hope this helps
