What does 'alphanumeric ' involve ?

I'm trying to get my ISP to upgrade me from Dial-up to Broadband.

I don't know how that relates to the question, but "alphanumeric" simply means combining letters (alpha-) with numbers (numeric). Many passwords are alphanumeric for security purposes.
