I use to have a tabby cat which I cared for a lot. If it was healthy and happy--then I was happy. But he has to be let out some time. One day when I went out to look for him and call his name..he did'nt come. I searched for him and could'nt see him. I asked people but they had'nt seen him. I gave up looking for him. After a few days when I got over his loss....I turned on the radio and listened to the news. It was announced that a gang of catnappers going around catching cats for using their skin for fur coats. I turned off the radio--rushed to the toilet and threw up. I hate anyone that wears a fur coat.

My sister's 2 dogs disappeared in the fall. The vet told her that students from the veterinary medicine dept were actually paid to bring dogs in to use as subjects and her 2 were probably stolen.
Nobody should wear fur but the original animal it comes on.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully, your kitty will have got lost and found a new home rather than a more awful fate if he had been stolen. I have lost pets both small and large, through old age, illness and accident - and I still feel guilty now, thinking what I could have done to avoid it. The reality is that there is very little that you can do, other than take their freedom away completely.

You don't say how long ago it was that he went missing. Cats and dogs can turn up months later, when you least expect it. My Burmese went missing for 3 weeks once, we put leaflets through doors, adverts in the local paper and on local radio stations to no avail. We feared the worse, but she walked in one day a bit thin, but otherwise ok.

Since I was about 10 yr.s old I bet I have lost about 40 50 pets.
I have rescued so many, found so many, provided a temporary home for so many. I have bought one dog and all the rest were rescues in one way or another. I have had only about six that appeared to be pure breeds but they were rescues too.

The one I missed the most was a Doberman Pincer cause I put her through a rather rigorous training and was trained as one would a police dog. She and I worked together on the NM State Fair Grounds as a team and we did use her a lot for crowd control, building search, substance detection, escort and they were wanting her and I at various places at the same time.

Her name was Kelley and we had worked together and each knew what the other would do at any given situation. I missed her terribly but time has brought many dogs since her but none went through the training she went through. They are just fence dogs now.

I had a cat named "Whitney", she was a tiger striped(black & grey) domestic shorthair, with the cutest orange nose. She was a beautiful animal. I moved, by car, across the country and "Whitney" went, also.
I lost her during a stopover in Needles, California. We were waiting for nightfall to cross the desert and "Whitney" went missing. I wouldn't leave, until she turned up and she did!
I took her camping up to Mount Palomar and she got spooked by some dogs at the diner, where we'd stopped at for lunch. We returned to the car and no "Whitney"! Again, I wouldn't leave, but she didn't return. We, humans, continued to the campsite and set things up; I went back to the diner; the owners had been hearing a cat from under the building. Shaking a bag of food, brought forth "Whitney" dusted with cobwebs, debris and an attitude!
The last time I let her out, she didn't come back; but, she didn't entirely leave me.

When I was 15 years old I had a German Shephard named Mitzy. She was given to me by my dad because I had wanted a dog (husky) for years. He got her from a kennel for free because she didn't have anyone to bond with. She was almost 3 years old when I got her & needed lots of love. I came to form a tight & loving connection with her. I would take her on walks, cry on her shoulder when I had a bad day, & loved her unconditionally. She had a litter of puppies once & my mom hated trying to find the puppies homes. So, when Mitzy got pregnant again, my mom took her to the pound. I came home from school that day & asked where Mitzy was. My mom said she broke her chain & she couldn't find her. I went all over the place with no Mitzy. I cried for almost a week straight, put up posters, & searched constantly. After 3 months & still no Mitzy, my mom told me I could get a cat to replace her. Of course I didn't want some, strange cat... I wanted my beloved dog back! 2 years later, after my parents divorced, my dad told me what my mom had really done to Mitzy! I'm still bitter about that. How could my own mom take Mitzy to the pound with a stomach full of babies?! Disgusting!

I lost my faithful Labrador after 141/2 years. She was a once in a lifetime dog, any dog owner will know what I mean. The local undertaker made her a special coffin and I wrapped her in a silk embroidered bedspread and put her in there with her collar and lead. I moved to a new house a week later and brought her with me and buried her right near the house. Although I now have another little Labrador female who loves me to bits as I do her, I will never forget my special friend, it still hurts too much to even write her name on this site.

My cat was poisoned by a neighbour with rat poison. My cat used to walk through his garden from time to time but never did anything to damage it or even use it as a toilet. That neighbour now has a dog that does nothing but bark all day long. I miss my cat very much.

I can't say that I blame you. I just lost my favorite pet in August, she was a toy poodle, and she was my heart. I had to get her put down because she was in alot of pain and suffering miserably. She was 16 years old and I had her for 15 1\2 years. No other pet could ever take her place.

I had a wonderful bull mastiff... he was the best dog I have ever had. He was deffinately a part of the family. One night someone broke the lock and cut the fence and stole my dog. He was show quality and worth quite alot of money. It still breaks my heart to think that my poor Murray was stolen and sold somewhere far away...

The loss of your pet is a hard one to take, I have lost pets also. My suggestion though would be to keep your animals leashed or in a fence. Its tough with a cat, but if it needs to be outside get a harness and leash otherwise keep it inside.
