My teacher assigned me to copy out her classroom rules 20 times. They are so long, 2 pages typed (its about 6 pages handwritten). I just finished copying it out 5 times and my hand hurts like hell. I don't think I can finish it by tomorrow, which then she will double. Normally she assigns lines, but this time she decided to give me more writing.

I only have gotten lines a few times. I am 15 in high school and this teacher is really young, probably late 20s. She always likes to give writing for punishment and everyday at least one person gets writing. I am so sick of this.. what is the whole purpose of it... to make my hand hurt so bad that I won't be able to write again for a week. I'm done with 10 of them and thats only half way there.. my hand cant take this no more.

I've had to do "Color My World" lines. You write a famous phrase repeatedly with each character a different color. Black, blue, red, green, pencil. Repeat. It was long and tough, but easier on the hands.

Your best bet is to question how you can change your behavior so as to avoid getting punished.

I am a teacher, and if you were in my class, of children aged 9, 10 and 11, you would get lines. Here is a wacky notion, worth a try- try behaving yourself. Children in my class find they only get lines if they don't follow the rules. I'm sure you've heard the saying- if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. If you can do the time, get on with it and stop whinging!!!!!

Just wondering how old you are? I make my 7 yr old write sentences for bad behavior and he hates it too. I guess that is the point....a punishment is about making you do something you don't like so you will remember it and not do the wrong thing again.

Have you had this assignment (even just for lines) before?? If so, I'd say she's fed up and you're just not "gettin it"! I've done it before, with my kids and the students I've worked with. Normally, it sinks in!

I think its a great punishment if you broke one of the rules. I am sure you now will think twice before breaking one again.

Yes...I used to have to do that when I was in elementary school. My advice: try not to get in trouble. :o)
