Is the icon not hiding? You can select system tray icons to 'hide' when inactive. Maybe it's still there. If not: Start/Control Panel/Network and Internet Connections/Network Connections and highlight the Local Area Network icon. Now go left to 'Change settings of this connection' and tick the box 'Show icon in notification are when connected' and hit OK.

like another answer, you have a hijack. attempt finding on Google for an application named HijackThis. This shows a variety of of steerage with regards to the appliance that starts with homestead windows or plenty with iexplore and you will get rid of them (from homestead windows risk-free Mode). this might sparkling slightly your browser. once you watch techniques on job supervisor, you may see unknown techniques who've unusual names. they're many times responsible for this way of issues. Write them down and from the risk-free mode you could delete the archives (they're many times in System32 and are exe or dll). If u won't be in a position to handle like this, attempt 2 or extra truly expert courses (their trial version at last) like AdAware very own, secret agent Sweeper, and so on. One anti secret agent ware does not continuously paintings. meanwhile you could obtain Opera or Firefox (they're extra advantageous then IExplore, additionally because of the fact viruses are actually not made for them, yet for Microsoft applications)

you might have to unlock the Task Bar if you have recently added new applications.

The new applications might have shifted the icons across and hidden them- if its not this then i don't know ~sorry :)

Right click on task bar
Un-tick "Lock the taskbar"
You should now see two chevrons <<
Left click and drag these to extend the viewing window of the icons.

good luck
;)
